I have found numerous account of him in the Alexandria Argus newspaper. Most called him Bertram Sebastion DeRidder. He was the town painter, houses, stores, barns, you name it. He became sick and died from lead poisoning. I have his obituary somewhere, can give it to you, if you'd like. His wife married two more times before dying. Both are buried at the Alexandria cemetery, Alexandria, Nebraska. Hattie Deridder and her husband Joe Fritchie are buried there also. I'd love information on the DeRidder family. BS. Deridder was married to Rebecca Jane Kinzie, a sister of my great grandmother, Cassie Kinzie.

the only information I got on the Easton link for Garret I got from an article posted many years ago in a Glens Falls newspaper. so my knowledge is quite limited. dont think I can add to your knowledge sorry

I just saw your message and have been inquiring about this same family. Did you ever find out anything on them? Burton was born in Easton, New York on Feb 8, 1853 and in the 1900 census he as 50 years old. Rebeck was 30 and Hattie was 11. In the 1870 census of Easton, Burton was 17. Are you related to either family and would you like more information on the DeRidder's? Love to hear from you again.

I also have an entirely different coat of arms for the DeRidder family. Have you done any research on this family from Easton, New York? I have done quite a bit and would be interested in compairing to make sure I am on the right track.

Thus far I can trace my grandfather (Alfons DeRidder) and gr grandfather(Carlos Ludovicus DeRidder) to Vrasene, Belgium. Carlos was born Sep. 1846 in Haasdonk, Belgium and married Rosalia DeClercq. My grandfather(Alfons) sailed from Antwerp into Ellis Island in 1906 and met my grandmother(Elisa Melsen) who also came from Belgium in about 1890. Thus far I cannot find any additional details for my gr grandfather or on my grandmother(Elisa Melsen) other than my grandmother came to the US with her parents-Desire Melsen and Seraphina Neve. Looks like your names may be relatives of my gr grandfather somewhere in Belgium?

You are right,these Lievins are not the same person,but they maybe related. I wish I knew some famliy names for my g grandfathers side. I have no info. on him at all. On the orginial papers from the National Archives my DeRidders were going to Rich Hill,Mo. That is where Oscar was born. They were also in Pa. Frank was born there. Deridder in Belgium

Some of the first names mentioned run in my familly: Emily, Sylvain, Lievin, but I cannot remember any Oscar. A few infos I could gather:
Jean Baptiste Deridder was born at Nerderbrakel (Belgium), he died 09/19/1855, his wife was Marie-Thérèse Leloup. They had 2 sons: François and Liévin: Pont-de-Loup 11/14/1862 (Belgium) - Farciennes (Belgium) on 1/15/1915. Liévin is my great grand dad. It is obviously not the same person as the Lievin your are mentioning. Please let me now if you came accross similar names in your ancestry.

Thanks to the new Ellis Island website I found my Deridders entry into the U.S.A.!!
The port of Departure was Antwerp,Belgium. The ship was The Noorland.They arrived 1st April,1897 at Ellis Island.
Lievin Deridder was 29 yrs. 7mo.
Marie DeRidder was 26 yrs. 9 mo.
Lidie DeRidder was 1 yr. 10 mos.
Vscrine DeRidder(my grandmother) 9 mos.

I am researching my mothers side of the family. Her mother was Oscarine Emily Deridder,born in 6/19/1895 in Belgium to Levine and Marie Francoise(Merchand) DeRidder. Levine was born 10/1/1867 in Belgium and died 4/4/1909 in Cherokee Co. Ks. and is buried in Hosey Hill Cem. in Weir,Ks. Marie was born 9/22/1870 in Belgium and remarried after Levine passed on. She died in Ringo Ks.6/27/1940 and is buried in Girard,Ks.I belive my grandmother and her sister,Lidye,were the only children to be born in Belgium.Is there a place called Rhue? This,I am told,is where they lived. Frank,Oscar,and Sylvain were born after the family came to the U.S. in 1696. If you are part of, or have info. on this family,please e-mail me barbie@icok.net

also the DeRidders arrived from Holland in the 1600s and settled Easton N. Y. and the town archives would have further details

I have Rebeccah Jane Kinzie b.1856 marrying a Burton Sabastian Deridder b. 1853. Mr. Deridder died in 1900, Thayer Co. Ne., and Rebeccah remarried a Chaney. There was a daughter born to the Deridders, Hattie, b. 1886, married a Fritchie in 1903. Thayer County, Ne.
