Hi Valerie,
This is Debbie McAnnaney. Married to your husbands cousin and Anna's son Robert. You will always hold a special place in my heart for getting my best friend in touch with me after 25 years of losing touch. If you recall she worked in the nursing home where your mother-in-law was staying and realized my last name was the same as yours. If not for the effort you and Bob took getting her my phone # we may have never seen each other again.

Lucy Derk daughter of Michael Derk and Catherine Zerbe 1835-1891

I am looking for any information on Lucy Derk (1835-1891). She was the daugther of Michael and Catherine (Zerbe) Derk, of Jackson/Lower Mahanoy Twps., Northumberland County, PA. She married William Wenrich, who was also from that area but moved to Snyder County, PA between 1860 and 1870. I am wondering if there is any information on whether Lucy was married to anyone else, particularly between 1850 and 1880. She is listed as William's wife in 1880 in Snyder County, but in 1870 his wife is listed as "Roseanna." It is possible that they are the same person. Additional evidence that they are the same person is that one of William's sons, Charles, lists Lucy Derk as his mother. However, Charles was born at the time when his mother should have been Roseanna.

Any information on Lucy is appreciated, as is any info on her mother, Catherine Zerbe.

I'm looking for information on Clara Derk. She was born c. 1879 and married John Gessner, son of Frederick Gessner, Jr. I'm not sure where she was from but the Gessners were from lower Northumberland County, PA. In 1910 and 1920, she lists her mother as being from Germany, but as being from Pennsylvania in 1930. Somewhere a long time ago I had seen that her father was Jared Derk but I have been unable to verify that. She and John had the following children:

Harold (20 Feb 1903-Dec 1984)
Irvin (9 May 1904-Nov 1985)
Ralph (16 May 1907-Dec 1978)
Raymond (23 Sept 1911-8 June 1998)
Norman (22 Nov 1915-Dec 1977)
Wilmer (5 Apr 1919-6 Mar 1998)
Ruth (22 Nov 1924-29 Dec 1996)

Thank you very much for any info that anyone has!!!!!!!

Hi! I'm looking for information on Jared Derk. I am related to him through his daughter, Clara b. 1879 who married John Gessner. She was my great-grandmother. Jared was born around 1838 and lived around Shamokin, PA. His wife was Catherine and she was born in Germany.

I am unsure if this is the Jared Derk that is the son of Sophia Wehry and Madow Derk.

Does anyone have any information?
Hello Christina,

I have only a tidbit of information for you about the couple. Anastazja (Anastasia) Napierala was born on December 26, 1882 in Sienna, Poland to John Napierala and Rosaila Chabek. I know that their children were:
Lucille J Jakubiak (born about 1912 in Poland)
Jospeh Frank Jakubiak (born about 1917 Oshkosh, Winnebago County, Wisconsin)
Anna Margaret Jakubiak
Francis Jakubiak
Hellen J Jakubiak
Margaret Jakubiak
Stella J Jakubiak

I have no more information about the Jakubiak family.
Since you grandfather is Jospeh, perhaps we can help each other. I do have most of the Napierala family tree including her siblings and parents. Would you like to exchange information?
Amber

Johann Simon Derk is my oldest ancestor in colonial PA. My line ended up moving down the Shenandoah Valley into TN. My GF Sam R. Derrick, left McMinnCo., TN and went West to the MO and IL area where my dad was born in Pekin, IL. in 1901. I lived in IL all my life until moving to FL in 2002.

Do you have any specific into on just where JSD came from in Germany and where the family actually originated. I think it may have been England, perhaps during the time of Elizabeth I or earlier. It is possible the family went to Holland/Germany to escape the Catholic/Protestant conflict and the JSD moved on to the New World.

I don't remember posting that reply, but I know there a lot of Derks listed, through the search on Derk on ancestry .com.
At the moment I don't recall where I found my Grandmother Matilda's listing. It might of been under Ohio deaths 1958 to 2000.They lived in the Forest City Area, according to my dad, Ernest M. Derk.
Derk spelling

Have been searching Derks for 20 years - in PA and Germany it's spelled Duerk (not your OE) or Tuerk as well as Turck, Durck - often the Us have unlauts - Derich, Derrick, Turk, Durk... and on and on. See Oscar Kuhns' book on the Pa Dutch for how the one syllable name became two - Derk to Derrick in Berks Co., PA. See also Toni Richard Turk's ONE NAME STUDY of TURK and it varieties throught Europe - hundreds of them. It's on the WEB. If you would like to e-mail me, use Larkline@aol.com, rather than my school address. Carolyn Larkins
