Look all I really want to say to someone who is Derleth is that I loved a very special man and his name was James Leo Derleth. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico Nov 13, 1959 and passed away September 1, 2005. His mother is Doris Rohla but he said he never knew who his father was, I'm sure that the name Derleth was not his mothers family name but his fathers. In any case, Jimmy was my soul mate and he changed my life forever in the very short time I knew him. I will miss him all the days of my life and I will never forget him, he lives in my heart like a river running through me. God Bless Jimmy Derleth and God bless the Derleth family tree.

Hi Don, Sorry for the massive delay in responding to your post. Apparently, I did not receive an email update back then.

I read Sanct Marien records back in 2000. I also checked out local history books from their library (It's amazing the things you can get long distance through library loans--bless them).

The town is Zeil am Main and they have their own website (and annual drinking festival). It's a great place.
Hi Donald,

I'm interested in the origin of the family DERLETH. The earliest namebearer I could find was a master locksmith named Jacob DERLETH who was living in Zeil am Main in Bavaria in 1723/24. Most of the families DERLETH were living around the town of Bad Koenigshofen, northwest of Zeil am Main, in the second half of the 19th century. I suppose that the descendance of August DERLETH's ancestors from some "Comte d'Erlette" are merely a nice fiction. Could you find out more about the ancestry of Michael DERLETH from Zeil am Main? I'd appreciate it, if you'd drop me a line.

Best wishes to you and your family for a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year!

Regards,
Lars Menk, Berlin (Germany)
eMail Lmenk@gmx.net
(please respond to my eMail address!)

What I have that is concrete though is Henry Derleth married Anna Sauer they lived in Bavarai village above or might be spelled StadtSwarzach? They are buried in a cemetery that was next to a Benedictine Monastery, Bavaria. They had 8 children who immigrated to the US these 8 settled in Indiana Peter, William, Anna, Barbaara, Margaret or Loretta, Julianna, George and Michael
Any connections or more information on Derleths would be appreciated. No connection has been made to the Wisconsin Derleths. Am interested in any information re the Bavaria origination. Am also curious about the Charles who worked on the Golden Gate bridge as I had heard that a Derleth had been involved.
