This may not help you at all but my great-great grandmother was Francisca DeRoo who was born March 8, 1828 in Watervliedt Belgium. She had a sister Urgela who married a cousin and there are many double realtionships fin the U.S. They had 4 brothers who remained in Belgium, Pieter, Carolus, Ivo and Leonardus (died as infant) so it is possible one of those There are living DeRoo's in Belgium most in the northern provinces around Watervliedt. Maybe this information will be of help to you. Good Luck.

Yes, my uncle was Uncle Irv and we visited him and Aunt Harriet in their Chicago apartment a few times when I was a child. The third brother is Charles, who also had a son, Dewight (spelling is probably off on his name here). Charles's wife is Gertrude and my mom talked to her several times thru the years. I never met Charles but I did meet my Grandma DeRoo once. She came to visit us one summer for several days but that is all the contact I ever had with her. I do remember Richard and also hearing your and your sister's names. Please write to my email address and I will give you what info I do have. Carole

However, I do not know why the difference in spelling. I do believe however that it is possible that your Marcellin Martens' daughter, Louisa Martens, may have been the godmother to my ggrandfather, Adolph DeRoo. Maybe we have something here.

Maurice passed away in the early 80's, and Madeline passed away just this May. They lived in Grosse Pointe, Michigan (suburb of Detroit). I spoke with him, and he doesn't know an Abraham or Irving Allen, but the relation may go back further than his memory.

DeRoo decendents

I am looking to trace the DeRoo family in Wisconsin, and I believe they came from Michigan. I only know my great grandfather's name, Abraham DeRoo and I believe he is from Milwaukee, as is my grandfather, Irving Allen DeRoo. Any leads?

I have a photo of Annie Rumler and her sisters. I can copy it and send it to you. I am not at my home right now to look at my ancestory information. I think my sister or brother may have more in formation on the rest of the Rumler siblings. I can check further this weekend when I am at home

Hi Elisabeth,
Henry and August were 2 brothers of Annie Rumler.Their parents were Bruno Francis (Rommelaere was the original flemish name) Rumler and Amelia Bonne.I do have the 1870 census of them, Bruno Francis passed away before 1870.Henry and August were married to 2 sisters Bouwhuis, their mother was Theresia Van Landschoot married to Anthony Bouwhuis in 1855 in Moline.My grgrgrgrandfather was a brother of the father of Theresia Van Landschoot.Do you have pictures on these Rumler familys!!!

My mother was Alma DeReu Croegaert. She was the daughter of Peter DeReu & Annie Rumler and sister to William, Edna, Roy, Helen and Harold. Her family moved from the Atkinson area in 1914 to South Dakota and later to Jasper Minnesota. What is your connection to this family

Hi;
Peter De Reu and Annie Rumler (Rommelaere in Flemish) are they making your ancestors, They lived in Atkinson,Ill.I have quit a bit info on some flemish familys in Atkinson.Most of them are related to one another.In a biography of Prominent citizen of Henry Co, i have a Henry Rumler , he was married to a descendant of Van landschoot's.Whillamena Rosalie Bouwhuis . They had 17 children and the doc says Annie is the wife of Peter De Reu, one of his children, but i doubt this. She was a sister to Henry.
Thay had 4 children it says William Edna,Roy and Alma.
Wonder if you could confirm this.The Van landschoots had two civil war soldiers ,Ambroos buried in Genesseo and Charles in Atkinson. I have seen , there is also an Edward De Reu, who was a captain in the same war.
http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/v/a/n/Hans-Van-landscho...

De Roo and De Reu

Does anyone know the difference other than the obvious one of spelling between De Roo and De Reu? My mother's family was from Henry County/Rock County, IL and there were families with both spellings. The De Reu people seem to have orginated in East Flanders while the De Roo people seem to have orginated in West Flanders. A great great grandmother was Rosalie Louise De Reu, first husband-Marcelline Martens and second husbanDesire Coryn. Rosalie had brother, Peter De Reu who has descendants living today in western Illinois.

Could you e-mail me at Bethtx50@iwon.com with any information you might have. Thank you, Anna Hunt
