found a DeRosie (spelled DeRossie) in the 1921 Toronto City Directory: Maxime living at 52 Sydenham, and John living next door at 54.
Then, I went through the papers and found a few items--

1. April 4, 1906 Maxwell and Charles DeRosie arrested for stealing from Louis DeRosie
2. July 9, 1907 William and Charles DeRosie were arrested, along with Arthur Matthews* for theft.
3. May 21, 1912 Maxwell in trouble with the law again
4. August 1, 1912 Frank DeRosie broke a window in a pool hall and was fined.
5. November 25, 1912 Max and Sarah DeRosie cited for keeping a disorderly house; apparently son William was constantly drunk and Max was not working and poor Sarah couldn’t do a thing.
6. September 4, 1930 William in trouble with the law again.
7. December 16, 1935 William arrested, this time with Patrick Burns*.

Connie:

Thank you for your reply! I am afraid that I have very little information other than what I received yesterday from the Wisconsin Vital Records Office. My grandmother was Ellen Derosier who married Joseph Godin on 18 Feb 1890 in Florence, WI. Ellen was the daughter of Peter Derosier and Rose C_____. I received a copy of Ellen's marriage license and Peter's Death Certificate. I have also a copy of Ellen's Death Certificate.

Ellen's Death Certificate says she was born New York, the daughter of Pete Derosia (sic) and mother unknown. Says that Pete was also born in New York. Family oral history notes this family oncew lived near Three Rivers, NY.

Ellen's marriage certificate says she was born in Canada and that her parents, Pete and Rose were also born in Canada. Her mother's maiden name is illegible but looks like Christian or Chastain.

Peter Derosier's Death Certificate says he was born in Joliette, Canada on 4 March 1822 the son of Frank Derosier and Sofrana (sp?) Derosier who were both listed as being born in Joliette, Canada. Lists his deceased wife as Rose Derosier. He died 8 June 1907 in Florence, Wisconsin.

I realize there is a huge gap between Antoine Desrosiers and my line but would appreciate any information you might have.

Best regards,
Jerrod

To better answer your query about the Desrosiers family, I really need more information. I need ancestors, not descendants.
My ancestors descend from Antoine Desrosiers who came to New France (now Quebec) in the early 1600's. His sons took various other names, "dit" in French. Among them: Lafreniere and Desilets. These are the names of both my grandmothers.
A number of other families took the name Desrosiers as an alternate name and the trick is to find what this was. It can be easy or very frustrating. Get back to me directly with all the data you have and I'll see what I can do. I have access to good records. See web site: ACGS.org
Connie

Connie:

I have just made a Derosier connection with Joliette and wonder if my line intersects with yours anywhere.

My ggrandfather, Peter Derosier, was born 4 March 1822 in Joliette, the son of Frank and Sofrana (sp?) who were both born in Joliette (according to his death certificate which I received today). He married Rose C______. He died 8 June 1907 in Florence County, Wisconsin and I believe he and Rose had the following children:

Matthew, Albert, Ellen (my grandmother), Timothy, rose, Caroline, Amelia, Fred and Austin.

I belive that Ellen may have born in Three Rivers, NY. She married Joseph Godin and died in Florence, WI in 1947.

Many thanks, Jerrod

Does any of this connect to your Joliette Derosiers?

Hi Tammy, I saw your post and may be able to help you. My mother was a DeRosier and I am researching her family tree.

A long time ago, before I began doing this, my aunt told me she had been contacted by a man named Waldo Rosebush. He claimed to be descended from DeRosier, and that a few of the DeRosiers had gone to Yamaska and changed their names. DeRosier means rosebush or something, and they changed it to distance themselves from certain relatives. He wrote a book, which is on file at the Library of Congress.

Anyway, you can contact me at mcraig5060@adelphia.net
Marilyn Craig

My mothers maiden name was DeRosier. Back in the 1950s, or very early 1960s my aunt received a letter from a man named Waldo Rosebush claiming to be a descendant of the DeRosier family. According to him, some of the DeRosiers living in Canada moved to Yamaska Maine and changed their name to Rosebush, since that is the meaning of the name, I understand. Who can explain what was going through these people's heads back then. Maybe there had been a family fued and they wanted to distance themselves from the rest. Or maybe they just wanted to have an American sounding name. Anyway, this guy had told my aunt (and this was before everything was computerized. No internet then) he had written a book about the DeRosier families. I went to the Library of Congress website and searched for him, and sure enough, there he was. Waldo Emerson Rosebush. He's actually written 2 books, and one of them is titled "The Rosier-Rosebush family" Check it out. I have no idea how to get it, but I intend to find out. If you answer this, please e-mail me directly at mcraig5060@aol.com

As it happened, I upgraded my OS and lost all of my "stuff" like Favorite Places and I never found my way back until now. Anyway, thanks for the info on names, but on to the important thing, like your grandmothers maiden name being DeRosier, which is the main line I am researching. My mothers maiden name was also DeRosier, and I have somehow managed to have gotten as far back as my g g grandparents, who were Francis A. DeRosier and Delia Cassiday. They were both born in Canada, and I am trying to find out where in Canada that was, and I am stuck. They moved to St. Lawrence County after getting married, and lived there until the 1840s when they moved to Scriba, NY which is in Oswego County. They had 10 children. I have the names and apporximate ages of them which I will be glad to share if we find there is a link. Please e-mail me directly at mcraig5060@aol.com in case I lose this place again. Thanks

Hi Alfred, It's JDeRosier. I wrote you awhile ago. That was my father and the derobrawleyonline is his website. Anyways, I found out a little bit more. Thomas Joseph DeRosier m. Marilyn Josephine Smith, sometime between 1948 53. His father's name was Anthony DeRosier (born in New Hampshire). Thomas was born in Michigan, in 1932. Anthony's mother was Lydia DeRosier, born in June, 1882. Died Dec. 23, 1943. Where would be a good place to start looking for her parents? I realize back in the 1880's records were probably not kept up to date or whathaveyou. If you or anyone else has any info please contact me. Thank You!

August Felix DeRosier, b abt 1908 Butte, MT

My father was August Felix DeRosier born in Butte, MT in about 1908. His father was Albert DeRosier, born in New York, probably about 25 years before that. I am just beginning to search this out, so I don't have any more information.
