I now have information on a Michael (Machial) Derrig who was born about 1810 in Mayo, Ireland. His wife was Bridget Catherine Collins born around 1820. They lived around Kemptville, Ontario with their children who were John, born 1846 in Ontario, Machial Derrig born about 1849, Cathern Derrig born about 1840, James Derrig born about 1852, Martin Derrig born about 1855, Mary Derrig born about 1856 and Marguerite Derrig born about 1857, and Ann Derrig born about 1863 in Ontario. This family in Canada resided around Edwardsburg on a farm owned by Michael Derrig and his brother-in-law John Collins and probably came from Ireland around 1849 when the big famine started. Edwardsburg is close to Kempville, Ontario, Canada. Some of this family moved to New York State in St. Lawrence County and Jefferson County. They also moved to Chicago and Wisconsin.
