Obituary from the Worcester [Massachusetts] Evening Gazette, Tuesday, December 1, 1942:
MILFORD, Dec. 1. - Funeral services for Miss Marie A. Derry, 22, killed in the Cocoanut Grove fire, were held this morning in Sacred Heart Church, Hopedale, where a solemn high requiem mass was celebrated. Burial was in Milford. Miss Derry was assistant to the manager of the Dudley street, Roxbury, branch of the Shawmut National Bank and lived at 101 Myrtle Street, Beacon Hill. She was the daughter of Dr. George H. Derry, president of St. Joseph's College, Portland, Me., former president of Marygrove College for Women, Detroit, and former principal of Milford High School. Her mother is the former Agnes Mann of Milford. Saturday night Miss Derry was escorted to the Grove for dinner by Lieut. Robert Foss. Both were trapped, and Lieutenant Foss died at Chelsea Naval Hospital. Besides her parents and brother, Miss Derry is survived by a sister, Jeanne, of Boston, and an ...
