Hi, Tara!

So you're a long-lost cousin! I'm the grnaddaughter of William A. Dery who was Percival's brother.
Robert M. Dery must be your uncle. I had some e-mail contact with him several years ago. So you've seen the family tree, I take it.
Any questions for me, or blanks you can fill in?

Karen O"Brien
kareob47@aol,com

My great-great grandfather was an Omer Dery. He was born in Canada in the 1880's. He was a blacksmith. He married Annestasia Gendron. Their son was Maurice Dery, who moved to Winchedon, MA.

If this is helpful, I can see what other info my family has.

I'm very new to geneology, so I apologize if this is not what you were looking for.

I know its been years since you posted this message and have most likely found the information you needed on Nicolas and Elisabeth. Nicolas is my 10th great grandfather. My Grandpapa, Ildege Dery, has given me all of his family history research. If you need any information just leat me know I may have something you want. As for Nicolas and Elisabeth, I don't have much on them. As far as I know they only had one child, Maurice. Nicolas and maybe Elisabeth's origin is from France. I believe Nicolas was a master shoe repair man. Immigration to Quebec was in 1669. Nicolas died in 1679 in Quebec which was around the time his son, Maurice, married Madeleine Philippeau.

This must be Frank's mother as he was born in 1852. Does your information show the same parentage for Fabien? I haven't been able to confirm tha the Fabien I found on this web site is indeed Franks parents. If you know the names of Fabien's parents then I can trace us all the way back to Nicolas Dery who arrived in Canada from France in approx. 1670.

Hi Lynn, Sorry it took so long to reply - I just saw your posting. Yes, the information I found was from the 1880 census. It showed Dennis (age 3), Fabien (age65) and Mary (age45) all living in the same house in Wayne county. At this time Frank (Francis Xavier - age 28) was married to Eguenia (age27) and had a son Eugene (age1). Eugene was one of the brothers of the group that attended Dennis' funeral (which also included my great-grandfather Edmond. My big question is still where was Frank (Francis Xavier) born?? If you ever come up with this information, please let me know! Thanks so much, Irene

I am so sorry for not getting this information to you sooner. I stumbled across you looking agian. I found Frank Dery on a 1900 census in Wayne County MI and it had that he immigrate in 1871. He was in america for 29 years. So that made him 17 or 18 when he imm. Wondering when you said it showed Dennis and Fabien in the house hold did it also show Mary? I have information that Dennis's mother Mary died in 1904 in Tuscola County last name spelt Derry. Is your info later then 1904? Hope to read from you soon. Take care Lynn

My Dery side is from Quebec. Fabien/Fabian Dery imm. in 1866.In MI married a Mary Defaunt(?). Son Dennis Dery married a Laura Wilson. All found in 1900 census in Tuscola Co. Junaita. In Dennis's memorial book from the funeral home,Detroit, the names Edmund, George, Fred C. Lillian,Cecile Dery are in it. Found that they are children of Frank Joseph Dery. Also in book was a Charles and Chas Dery. Does anyone know any of these names? This may help me with my search. Take care.
Lynn
Nancy, My Great Great Grandfather was Fabien Dery who Imm. to the US in 1866 married Mary Defaut and had my Great Grandfather Dennis Dery. The only state that I know of him in is Michigan. In 1871 Frank Dery imm. to Mi aat the age of 18. Most of his children are found in my Grandfathers Funeral book. Which led me to investigate Frank. Franks fathers name is Fabien and I feel certian that Frank is Fabiens first marrage in Canada. Something happened and he left Frank in Canada and came to the US. Fabien was 57 when Dennis was born. If you can help me confirm that my theory is correct I would be most appreciative. Lynn

Irene, I believe that Frank is the first son to Fabien, Question to confirm this is: Do you know what happened to Fabien and Eugenia? See I feel this connection but am not for sure. If I knew when Eugenia died and where or if Fabien and her where divoriced then I can cofirm all my hopes. My Fabien came to the US in 1866 remarried in 1874. Could this be the same man? My research has found that Frank came to the US at 18 leagal age. Lynn

Lynn, sorry for the confusion. Frank was the one married to Eugenia Debbaudt. They married in Detroit in approx. 1874. The information I have stumbled across says that in 1874 Fabien and Dennis lived at 405 Concord in detroit. I have also found an address of 193 St. Aubin Ave (detroit) for Fabien. What I find interesting about this address is that the detroit directory also shows an Exebia Dery - shoemaker - at this address. I have no idea who Exebia is or if this could possilby be Xavier (Frank Joseph's middle name). I have looked everywhere to try and figure out how and when Frank Joseph arrived in Michigan. Can you please let me know where you found that he arrived when he was 18? I am convinced that your Fabien and my Fabien are the same man. Especially since my great grandfather (Edmond) and his siblings were at Dennis' funeral. I have also found that in 1895 Fabien moved to Kalamazoo. This may be where he died - he was quite old then. Do you have any idea who Fabien's parents were? I did find one document that shows a Fabien as the son of Joseph Dery and Marie Elizabeth DeLessard. But this Fabien married Marie Lou Lislois in 1848 in Montmagny, Quebec. I am able to trace this Fabien all the way back to Nicolas Dery and Elizabeth Bertrand arriving from France in 1660's. I hope some of this helped and look forward to any additional information you have.

My great grandfather is Edmond Dery son of Frank Joseph Xavier Dery. What I do know is that Frank Joseph Xavier is the son of Fabien Dery. Frank Joseph's wife's name is actually Eugenia Debbaudt. She is the daughter of a surgeon from Belgium. Frank and Eugenia had many children including those you listed from Denis' funeral book, they are: Francis Joseph Xavier, George (Pat), Eugene, Cecile, Fredrich, Frank, Edmond, and Marie. There is a long line of carpenters in this group including Fabie, Frank Joseph Xavier, and many of his sons. Hope this helps....Irene Dery Morillo

Hi Lynn,
I wish I could help you, I just don't know enough about the family to tell you anything. Most of the information I have is second hand. Supposedly my grandparents migrated from France to Qubec, where they had several children, my father being one, another brother Joseph and a sister Charlotte, there may have been more, but I don't know. They then migrated to Holeyoak Mass. My father met and married my mother in Clinton, IN. (I think) they had me and then my brother, then father left for greener pastures, he married my mother's best friend and they had one daughter, then they also separated the mother died and when the girl was 16 she commited suicide. As far as I know there was never any more contact from him. I recently (as I've gotten older ) have started to try to find out some of the history. I think I may have found out that he died in 1999 in Seminole Fla. I'm working on that. I hope you find your ancestors and wouldn't it be a small world if we were some how related ! Good luck and feel free to contact me anytime. Nancy
