I have a picture of DeSart main street in the early 1900s if you would like a copy please contact me. My Father was from New England and my Mother was from the Havelock, ND area. They married in New England ND in the 1920s. Dad was Arvid Wiklund, mom was Fay Hunn.

I grew up going to the "Armstrong-DeSart" family picnic in Oregon. There is a DeSart road near Salem, Oegon. My grandmother Linnie Parthena (or Parthenia Linnie) DeSart married John Murphy in Salem in 1888 (?). I understand that the family was originally from France, were Heugonauts, and fled from France to Holland (?) in the early 1700's?
Does anyone know anything about this family?
I sincerely appreciate any help.
Does anyone know what the name means?

I have contacted cousins who will know correct person to contact re Granges. I believe a son took over for the father, but I'm not certain.

I have a copy of Slope Saga, so no need to do scanning.

In your materials, do you have any references to the Krenz or Bilges families that lived next to DeSart?

I do not have pictures of the town, but my cousin, John Grange of Vancouver, WA, I believe has the DeSart family history in its entirety and if anyone has it, it is he. Good luck. Please let me know if you get the family history from him as I'd also like a copy. Thanks.

I apologize. Louise wasn't Robyn's mother, Loretta was. Louise is our grandmother's sister in law. I confused the names. I would still like to find info on Robyn Keith and Louise Desart. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm looking for my cousin, Jamie Robyn Keith, daughter of Rodney Keith and Louise Desart. Robyn was born in the Knoxville, TN area around 1969. She and her mother moved to Kentucky when she was a young child. Her mother remarried and Robyn was adopted by her stepfather (name unknown). I don't know where Louise is from-possibly TN also. I am seeking information on the mother of Bertha. Her name was Mary Eveline Tripp. All I have on her is that she was Born in July 1870, Bordley, Union County, KY. She married William J Snelson, Aril 15,1888 in Mahaska County, Iowa. They had 3 children, Rosa, Leslie, and Bertha. Mary Eveline and William J. were separated or divorced. All we know is that she left and my grandmother Rosa always said she was closer to and would visit Bertha. I am in great hopes that someone searching the DeSart line will know about her. I can not find her on any census in Iowa. It has been RUMORED that she went to Colorado, but we all know how rumors are. Here is a report on what I have for Bertha. There is a 3-page history of the O.R. DeSart family in the book "Slope Saga" published by the Slope County ND centennial committee in 1976. It says O.R. DeSart was born 25 February 1850 in Janesville Wisconsin and spent boyhood in Fayette County, Iowa. He founded the town of DeSart, North Dakota. It says he had 2 brothers and 7 half-brothers at the time of the Civil War. Family photos are included. My Krenz and Bilges lines farmed near DeSart, ND, where my grandfather August Krenz served as postmaster at one time..

An O.R. DeSart founded the small town of DeSart, North Dakota. Many of my ancestors (Krenz and Bilges) farmed nearby. I have probably the largest collection of DeSart history anywhere. I have over 1,500 desart family members in my database. I have been to Belgium and found our ancestors there. I have a database with over 100 DeSart families in Belgium. I've visited a few and correspond regularly.

I have the death records for our dad. He lived to a ripe old age... died in LA.. 1995 !.

I have sent in a request to find out what cematery he and our grandfather are buried at.

I have gathered some great information from around the world, and recently from a retired LA cop that had a letter our grandfather wrote his father, which included the Paramount stuido pic of our aunt.

Jessie Emmet Desart was Married to Mary Estillia Brown on Feb. 20 1898. I dont have much other info on her but i do on her husband Jessie. This was according to my mother's information. If you like, i can check on marriage license at a court house. My grandma was a Desart.

The information I have says that Francis Eagles DeSart was married to Laura Curtis (Catherine Lott Curtis was Laura's cousin) Laura died and Catherine Lott Curtis came to help take care of their 7 children. She ended up marrying Francis. (Catherine was the widow of John Curtis) she had four boys and 2 girls from her marriage to John. Francis and Catherine had 3 children. Catherine was born February 6.1806 in Richmond, Virginia and died June 26, 1889 in Rock Rapids, Iowa. I have a good story about her if you are interested and more information about her family. My information shows Curtess spelled Curtis but has to be the same person.

I have similiar info on my dad's Great(x4) grandfather--Abraham DeSart
Mine shows he died on 2-10-1856 however and had a son Francis E. DeSart
(b. 7-22-1807) who married Laura M. Curtis on
10-22-1829. Francis died 12-18-1861.
I am trying to verify where my dad got this info.
I have line thru present via Francis. Maybe the same?

This is what I have: Abraham (also might be spelled Aubram) DeSart was born in Leyden, The Netherlands, May 19, 1765. He married Magdalene Eagles (Egles?) on Oct. 22, 1829. He died March 14, 1844 (in Edgar County, Ill?) They had seven children: Matthew, David, John, George (my direct relative), Wesley, Emaline and Asa. When Laura DeSart died, he married Catherine Lott Curtis and had Dennis, Leander and Ora.

I came across Ora DeSart in my family history. He was the half-brother to my relative, George W. DeSart, who was born in Illinois. According to what I have, Ora was born to Francis DeSart and Catherine Lott Curtis Feb. 25, 1850. He married Anna Hill, who was born Feb. 16, 1861. He died Dec. 28, 1916. She died Aug. 5, 1932. I have more information about Francis DeSart, if you'd like to hear it.
