I am a great granddaughter of John Ripley Desha. He was married to my great grandmother Mollie Isabelle (Belle) Eldridge. They were married July 27, 1887 in St. Augustine, Tx. They had 5 daughters: Sallie Elizabeth (Lizzie), Minnie Melinda, Carrie Belle (my grandmother), Hattie Estelle, and Alice Mae.

David Shelby was John Ripley's brother. I know that he was born in Harrisburg, Catahouls Par., La. and died Oct. 4, 1903 in Wallisville, Tx. Their mother and father was Eleanor Ripley (Moore) and Joseph G. Desha. Joseph G.'s mother and father was Lucinda Lockett and James Desha.
