Mary Catherine (Etter) Deshler Obit
MORENCI — Mary Catherine Deshler, age 88, of Morenci, went to be with her Lord, Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility. Mary was born Aug. 8, 1919, to Donald E. and Ida C. (Donaldson) Etter in Adrian. Mary graduated from Adrian High School in 1938. On June 5, 1942, she married her beloved husband, Gerald (Jerry) Deshler, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 1986.
Mary was employed by Hurd Lock during WWII, Kewaunee Manufacturing and then retiring from Bixby Hospital in 1981 after 18 years of service. Mary was a faithful member of the Medina Federated Church and was very active with the Ladies Guild. She enjoyed and loved her church family very much. Mary loved to help her children in their many home projects through the years, working hard and never letting her age or pain slow her down. She was the “Construction Boss.” She was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be missed very much.
Mary is survived by four sons, James (Carol) Deshler of Albuquerque, N.M., Jerry (Rochelle) Deshler of Nicholasville, Ky., John (Pat) Deshler of Adrian and Jeffrey (Loretta) Deshler of Adrian; three daughters, Janet (Gary) Lawrence of Adrian, Judith (Russell) Robinette of Morenci and Joanne (Ronald) Shaffer of Morenci; a sister, Edna (Joseph) Swanson of Adrian; a sister-in-law, Betty Hatt of Adrian; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special friends Richard and Judy Ort. In addition to her husband, Gerald, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard and Edgar Etter; a sister, Marda Withrow; and a daughter-in-law, Judith Deshler.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian, with Pastor Darren Lemmon officiating. Burial will be in Palmyra Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian. Read this obituary and send condolences to the family at www.andersonfuneralhomeadriantecumseh.com.
