Firmin Desoto was a witness on my grandmothers marriage liscence. Her name was Lou Lonidier and she married Hugh Jenkins in Avoyelles Parish in 1891. I am trying to find out who her parents were. She possibly had brothers named Clem and Jim. Her mother died when she was born or very young. She settled in the Deville area and gave birth to 17 children. If you have any information please contact me at krndeville@yahoo.com. thanks

HI Cousin Sylvia,

I had written a message and when I was finished I realized that you are my cousin! 3rd cousin if I am correct. I still have a letter you wrote to my gfather on May 8th, 1969.

Firman De Soto (1894-1985)and Estelle Ducote (1894-1974) were my Ggrandparents. I knew Uncle Sam and Lonzo. I did not know Uncle Lee, but have heard of him many times, he died when I was 11. Mawmaw and Papa De Soto lived in Bayou Jack, LA. My grandfather is Vernon De Soto (born Earl Vernon changed to Vernon Paul when he was a child) who married Katie Beard. I will be loading my information into my family tree soon.

Just saw Jesse Bonnette at my Uncle Wilton's funeral. Wilton Barron, was the 3rd husband of my Aunt Euna DeSoto.
My gfather sees Jesse fairly often.

Mark

Correction to previous message. Oniel did not live next door to a Desoto in 1930. The name was Ducote. I did locate Oneal and his wife in 1920 in Avoyelles Parish, LA. Trying to learn the names of his parents, siblings, etc. Found a few possibilities. Onil/Oniel/Oneal (???) was married to Eudalia/Eulalin/Eulnaire (???). Wow, how does one know what the real spelling was?

Desoto Avoyelles Parish, LA

I was researching Evelyn Margaret Desoto (b. 1928) who was married to Laverne Jesse Murrell. Checking the census records gives me reason to believe that the parents of Evelyn are Oniel and Eudalia (maiden name unk) Desoto. They are found in Avoyelles Parish, LA in 1910 and 1930. I cannot locate them in 1920 on the census. Evelyn had a sister Zilphy.

Living next door to Oniel was a Louis Desoto b. 1861 LA. Having enough experience in census research, name spellings and the usage of a first name or middle name wach census period is not uncommon.

Hoping that someone recognizes this family and will share their family history with me. Thank you.

I can not read his wife name on the 1920 census she is supposed to be my grandmothers Aunt on her mother's side. I am trying to find out whom my ggrandparent are .
Jose DeSoto, Denver Colorado 1870

My gg-grandfather, Jose DeSoto, born in Spain and his children born in Peru, appears as a Professor of Spanish in Denver Colorado 1870 census with wife Emma, daughter Edelmira and sons Jose, Edward and Emilio (mistakenly Amelia in census.) Parents and elder sons then disappear for me. Family legend has it that some died in a house fire. Edelmira married my ggrandfather, Robert Morrison in 1873 and they raised Emilio. Has anyone information on Jose or his other sons?

Looking for D. Mixon who married Artie Missie McKelva

I am looking for information regarding my great grandmother , her husband(s) and a daughter born of the Mixon marriage. Artie Missie McKelva married Dea (sp) in Texas. My grandmothers marriage license lists fathers father as Ira Cline (which has totally confused me) Artie, my grandmother Atha and her sister Della are with the McKelva's in Fannin Texas in 1900 (married 5 years) There is a D. Mixon in Tarrant Co. that is a possibly husband for her (M.5 yrs) . Artie is found in Krebs, Pittsburg Co. Ok. in 1910 married to Daniel T Green. (he died in 1914). IN front of the girls names is the name Crain. (Della, age 10 and Atha, age 13. My grandmother married in 1911. I know that Artie was not shown as a survivor on her mother's obituary.Seeking ANY information tht might lead me to figure out the puzzle regarding my grandmother;'s father D. Mixon and what happened to Artie and Della after 1910.
