I'm trying to find any information on any of the three daughters born to Joseph Zephirin DESROCHERS (b. 1884 Quebec) & Mary Elizabeth 'Millie' FIDLER (b. 1876 Manitoba) We are working on a DESROCHERS family history for the family celebration in Aug 2009 of two memebers' 100th birthdays.

I don't have too much I can tell anyone but what I know so far is this:

Millie & Joseph weren't married but lived together and had three daughters. All I have for them is -

Rose married a man named Kelly TOWLE and in the 1950's lived in Alberta.

Bertha married a man named Robert 'Bob' JACKSON.

Dorothy or Catherine...not sure of her name....never married.

I don't have birth years for these women but I speculated that the earliest birth may have been around 1903 -1904 when Joseph would have been about 20 years of age. The latest birth would have been before Jun 1919 when Millie married.

Millie married 14 Jun 1919 to Alfred J. La FLEUR in Stonewall, Manitoba. (Date of Marriage: 14/06/1919
Place of Marriage: STONEWALL Registration Number: 1919,033368 ~ http://vitalstats.gov.mb.ca/Query.php)

Millie died in 1922* and is buried with her parents Alexander 'Sandy' FIDLER (b. 11 Sept 1835 St. James, Winnipwg RRS/MB d. 19 Dec 1918 St. Laurent, MB Registration Number: 1918,072507)and Mary Ann LINKLATER (b. 4 July 1844 St Andrews, Lisgar, Manitoba d. 31 Aug 1928 St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, MB Registration Number: 1928,039065)

They are buried in St George's Anglican Cemetery, Woodlands, Manitoba. The headstone says "FIDLER" and the first name listed is Mary Elizabeth 'Millie' La FLEUR

I don't know if Rose, Bertha & Dorothy/Catherine used the surname FIDLER or DESROCHERS or were possibly adopted by Millie's husband and used La FLEUR.

Can anyone help with providing any information on these ladies?

Eustache Bachand Frappier was born 7 Oct 1830, Varennes, Vercheres, Quebec, Canada the son of Joseph and Marie Victoire (Senecale) Frappier.

Mathilde Brien dit Desrochers was born about 1840, Longueuil (CO-Cathédrale St-Antoine-de-Pade), Québec, the daughter of Salomon and Angelique (Viau) Desrochers.

Eustache Bachand Frappier married Mathilde Brien dit Desrochers on 2 February 1858 at Longueuil (CO-Cathédrale St-Antoine-de-Pade), Québec.

Children:

1) Hormidas Bachand born 11 Feb 1859 in Laprairie, Quebec, Canada married Henriette Beauvis. Hormidas died 18 Jan 1938.
2) Joseph Isidore Frappier born about 1862 in Vercheres, Quebec.
3) Joseph "Eustache Bachand" Frappier born 1863 in St-Bruno-de-Montarville (St-Bruno), Québec, married Marie Malvina Ste-Marie.
4) Eudoxie Frappier born about 1864.

12) Charles Alderic Frappier was born 12 Dec 1878 in Verchères, Québec married Evangeline Roberge. Alderic died 18 Sept 1957 in Norwich, Connecticut, United States
13) Antoine Bachand Frappier was born 1881. Antoine died 1965 in La Prairie (Notre-Dame-de-LaPrairie-de-la-Madeleine)

These Frappier's traveled to Holyoke, Massachusetts approx. 1880. All of them can be found in the 1880 US Census in Holyoke under the name of "Eustace Frappe". Several children remained in Massachusetts and several returned on Canada.

Mathilde (Brien dit Desrochers) Frappier died in Holyoke of Typhoid Fever on 4 September 1890. Eustache traveled to Lowell, Massachusetts around 1892. Eustache traveled back to Quebec and can be seen in the 1901 Census living with his son, Hormidas Bachand, in Laprairie, Laprairie & Napierville, Quebec, Canada. Eustache died 1914 in Laprairie, Quebec, Canada.

Some members of the family dropped the name Frappier and used the name Bachand, making it harder to research this family. I descend from Charles Alderic Frappier and would enjoy sharing information with any family members.

I'm looking for the parents of Honore Houde dit Desrochers (born abt. 1814) from Ste. Croix, Lotbiniere. He married Mary Walsh about 1838 probably in the US and then went to Ste. Croix.

En faisant des recheche sur mon ancêtre, qui est Emery Desrochers j'ai constaté qu'il avait un frère nommé Joseph Japhet Desrochers Marié à Ulderie Alderie Racette, dans mes informations ils sont mariée 2 jul 1899 a Lowell MA
J'aimerais avoir des informations sur cette famille.Mon arrière grand père est revenue vivre au Canada.
Est-que Japhet à suivi son frère?? As-il vécu à Montréal?
Et ses enfants j'ai seulement le nom de Joseph R, Alfanie Desrochers j'aimerais avoir les autres noms.
Nous sommes propablement cousins éloigné.

I just found your query. Lionel Clement Desrochers was my great uncle (by marriage) and married my great aunt Alice F. Desrochers. Alice is still alive at 96. I grew up in Aldenville, and have some information about this family.

My interest is in the following couple: Jean-Baptiste Desrochers dit Frappe & Josette Wilmet. Here is what I know: the family from which I descend is the Desrochers
from the Vaudreuil area of Quebec. They were also known as
Frappe. The fact that the above referenced used the dit name of Frappe makes it virtually certain he is a member of
the same family. I am especially interested in his place of
birth and the names of both of his parents. I am trying to
attach him to the correct set of parents.

I am having trouble reading the writing of the enumerator on this census.

I know who three of the members of the family are because they are who I am researching but I am unable to determine what the rest of the names are of the other family members. I tried looking them up for baptisms on the Drouin images that Ancestry just put on line but the writing on the baptismal entries is just as indecipherable and complicated by the images being somewhat pixelated for St. Jean l'Evangeliste.

Additionally, it appears from the baptisms I have found in the registers of St. Jean l'Evangleliste that François was aka Joseph and Adeliade was aka Ade Maria Louise GRANGIER. Only the youngest two children are in the parish register for St. Jean. There were no other DESROCHERS baptisms that resembled the names on the 1851 census in the correct years that matched the ages on the census so I must infer:

1. That François is eigther François Joseph or Joseph François and that Ade is the short form of Adelaide.
2. I must also assume that the family was somewhere else for the births of the older children. Where that was, I have yet to discover.

Does anyone know this family and can tell me the names of the rest of the family?
Or have acess to the actual microfilm or a printed transcription of the parish registers for St. Jean l'Evangeliste and can tell me the correct names for the children born in St. Jean?
Or knows where the family was prior to being in St. Jean?

Holly: I was searching the LaRoche message board when I came across your message regarding pictures of several LaRoche and Desrocher family members. My great-great grandmother was Philomene LaRoche, married to Frank LaRoche. I have just started working on my family's genealogy and I am a true novice! My great grandparents were from Quebec, and settled in the Faribault, Minnesota area. They had a large family, I believe at least 10 children, one of them being my great grandmother: Elizabeth LaRoche. She married my great grandfather: Jederon (Gaedeon) "Jeddy" Tousignant. Do you still have the photo's that you mentioned on your October 2000 message board?
I would be so interested in a copies of those photo's...if you could let me know by e-mail whether you do or not, I would really appreciate it. (I would be happy to pay for copies!!)

Joe DesRochers Bio - pge 269

The railroad brought Joseph P. and Sarah J. DesRochers to Langdon along with several of their children in the 1890's.

Joe worked at the station and they lived in a house constructed about that that for the familes of railway employees.

This house later became the home of Miles Reed. The family lived in Langdon for 10 or 15 years. There were eight children in all, but one died in infancy.

Bonjour Laurie, I found this marriage on the Goverment Quebec marriage index and on Drouin marriage book. They dont have date of born.
If you go on web you will find this Associations Houde Houle Desrochers Desruisseaux, They will answer to your demand.
Maybe you did not know but your family are Houde or Houle family who in years they took Desrochers name, I try to give you more information and I did not find Augustin and Angèle.on Desrochers name so Augustin maybe Augustin Houde.

Eliza's mother is listed as Eliza on a census and at the cemetery but on Latter Day Saints site someone has Eliza's mother as P. Campbell. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks for your invitation to write. I have been trying to get some data on my grandfather, Charles Desrochers (Derocher) for years. He was born in Canada (nothing more specific) in 1863 (locality unknown). He was maried to Alphonsine Beaudoin or Boudoin in Canada, I believe. He came to the US in about 1888 and lived in Cohoes, NY until he died - as far as I know. Can't find his date of death or the death cert. If you have any info, please let me know.

No relationship to the DesRochers genealogy. I'm putting together a booklet, for my own interest, about former rural
and early school teachers once of Elk and nearby counties.
I came across the name of John Milton DesRochers as once a rural school teacher, probably at Instander, Jones Twp., Elk County, Pa. I found his obt. published in the Johnsonburg, Pa Press, article dated March 18, 1965. John was age 68 yrs when he died in Harrisburg, Pa, burial in Woodlawn Memorial Mausoleum. It would seem John was born about 1897 possibly at Instander. I do not have the name of his parents or siblings but there were families living in Instander who probably were his relatives as follows: M.M. DesRochers (nee McClarin) died in 1999 at age 94 yrs having been born in Johnsonburg. She died in Ridley Park, Pa. Her husband was Real DesRochers. She was survived by a son Paul V. DesRochers of Ridley Park and others. Chester Hall DesRochers, was a resident of Instander in 1913 when he graduated from Lock Haven Normal School. He married Beula M. Turly. Roy Mowrey DesRochers, of Instander/Wilcox, died in September of 1922, age 35 yrs old.
