Joyce Claire Detrick's mother was Irene. Irene's first married name was Irene Claus from NY, NY. Irene Claus had one son, Robert P. Claus, who was a fighter pilot in WWII and was killed in action in April 1944. U.S. Army records listed Irene as his mother and Joyce Claire Detrick as his sister. We believe Irene remarried by the end of WWII and was then known as Irene Detrick. It is not known if Joyce Claire Detrick was born of the Detrick union (Irene as biological mother or Stepmother) or from the Claus union (Irene as biological mother and Joyce Claire taking her Stepfather's surname of Detrick).
