This address is at the K C Mo library where I work. My brother and I have researched the Dettweiler name and we are in touch with Anna and Dennis at Kingfisher, Okl. Dennis is the son of Harland and Thelma.

I believe I am related to the John Dettweiler you are refrencing. I think my mother has talked about her Aunt Minnie.

John would be my great, great grandfather. Harland Dennis Dettweiler is my great grandfather. He married Thelma English, and they adopted Marie, who is my mother's mother. Though not blood relations, the Dettweilers are every bit of my mother's family and memories. Harland and Thelma helped raise my mother... she was born in Watonga, OK.

Who were JOhn Dettweiler's parents? and where was he born? i looked up Fichtenbrunn on the internet, and there doesn't see to be a place called that, though there is a place called Fichctenburg. thoughts??

The unknown - different information about Louisa Waller's maiden name. Earlier it was reported as Furman(n), today I learned an 80 year old aunt thought it was Detweiller. She was born in PA. George and Louisa's had a son named Allen Monroe Waller, b in PA about 1875 in PA and later lived in NE, married Margaret Shaffer, daughter of Daniel and Leticia Kennedy Shaffer. Any information about this family would be most appreciated

Is it at all possible to translate your sight
into english? I can make very little out of
the german. Do you know of any translation
service on the net? My Great-grandmother
was a Dettwiller. Her grandfather was from
the Alsace area of Germany. Since
immigration often misspelled names, I think
there might be a connection.

Sorry to have been out of touch so long. We have moved, again, and now are in Fulton, IL.
I'm sorry I haven't been of much help to you, but didn't want to totally lose contact.
I've been reviewing some of the info we have as of our last correspondence and am wondering what you have come up with new.
I'm going to try to sit down and really go over things sometime soon, and I probably could provide new information from our end from the most recent years in our family.

My name is Guillermo Datwiler, I`m from Argentina, but my family were form Suiza or Alemania.
My family are in Argentina since 1890 I supose. The first Datwiler here was my grand grand father, Rodolfo Datwiler.

Hi Rick, I too have picked up on this and have emailed Phyllis Anderson. I am your cousin Theron Lee Smith. Phyllis has sent me the wedding invitation and I have sent her serveral emails and pictures of the Dettweiler family. I will not be able to attend the Smith reunion this month. We recently spent 2 days at Caro and Gagetown looking for Smiths and Vaders and Thanes. Hope to hear more from you.--Theron

Hi. I am the Grandson of Magdalena Dettweiler's Sister, Susanna Dettwieler Smith. I was looking for information on the Eby and Wideman family when I came across your message. My family resides in the Thumb of Michigan. Caro, Cass City, and Akron-Fairgrove area. I unfortunately did not know Aunt Magdalena, but did meet her when I was a child. I am now 46 years old. The Smith family has a family reunion each year that is held in the Vassar area. Most of the living relatives from my Grandmothers side of the family attend. I would be glad to share with you any information on the Widemans (or Weidmans, as it is sometimes spelled) that I can find. I have some information that goes back to the early 1700's. Look forward to hearing from you.

It lists the man five families and their entrances into the different ports thruout the US.
I am still searching for the full links, but have a lot on my family(the one least known about...

While going through a box of old photos I found an envelope with a marriage announcement in it.

"Mr and Mrs Israel Dettweiler request your presence at the marriage of their daughter Magdalena to Mr Walter Goudie on Wednesday, September the first nineteen hundred and fifteen at twelve o'clock noon at their residence, Colling, Michigan."

They are not part of any of my family trees, but if they are yours, please show me the kinship and I will mail the announcement to you.

I have a document written by a person named Minnie L. Dettweiler in 1977. She mentions something about John being born in 1860 at Fichtenbrunn as were seven younger brothers and sisters. Her Aunt Bertha Amelia was born at Halstead, Kansas April 1, 1877. My Grandfather, Greatgrandfather, and Greatgreatgrandfather are all buried at the Summerfield, Il. cemetery. Dettweilers.

It appears that your great great grandfather was Jakob (1832-1916) of Hammerhof and your great great great grandfather was Jakob (1765-1833) originally from Haftelhof, who moved to Hammerhof in about 1818.

I would sure be interested to know who your father and grandfather were? Where were you born?

If it would be alright with you I could mail you several pages of information to your Iowa address.

My grandfather was Harland Dennis Dettweiler, born 5/23/1901 in Watonga, Oklahoma, I believe. He had two brothers and three sisters, one of the sisters which died as an infant.

My father is Dennis Eugene Dettweiler, born 12/10/28 in Watonga, Oklahoma also I believe. He had no natural brothers or sisters, but has one adopted sister.

I was born 3/29/54 in Enid, Oklahoma, and I have one brother, Joel Dennis Dettweiler, born 12/23/59, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

My brother is married but they have no children.

My husband and I have three children, all born in Lawrence, KS.

I would be very happy to get any information you have.

My great aunt Gladys Dettweiler is the only one of my grandfather's siblings still alive, but my mother does have a dresser of geneaology information from my great aunt Minnie L. Dettweiler that I hope to go through at Thanksgiving.

I would love it to get the translation of the german also. My grandmother's name was Minnie Detweiler and her father was Joseph Detweiler. I am sure that they were of German or Swiss descent. I have learned that in Switzerland it was Datwiler or Datwyler. Anyone out there who can help? Thanks

Hello. My name is Cecilia Dettweiler McCloud. I live in Iowa, USA. I have a brief history saying that my great grandfather, John A. Dettweiler, came from Germany to America with his parents in about 1870, when he was about a 10 year old boy, first to Summerfield, Illinois, and later to Halstead, Kansas. The information states that our Dettweiler family came from Hammerhoff, Bavaria. John was born 11/11/1860. I have been looking for information about our family in and from Germany but have been unable to trace anything at this point. I would appreciate any help you might be able to offer.

Grandfathers

My great great grandfather Christian Dettweiler was born in 1799 at Hammerhof. He came to America, Summerfield, Ill. and was an early Pastor of the Summerfield Mennonite Congregation in 1856.

There is a placque in the Summerfield cemetery that reads:
"Here lie the mortal remains of many Mennonite pioneers who left their homes in Europe in search of a place to live and worship as their non-violent faith directed"

My great grandfather, Christian Dettweiler was born in 1846 in Summerfield, Ill.

My grandfather, William Jacob Dettweiler was born in 1888 in Summerfield.

My mother, Janice Cecilia Dettweiler was born in 1916 in Webster Groves, Mo. Her siblings were born in Oklahoma and in Kansas.

My mother with two of her siblings did research at the library in Summerfield not long ago. That is where I got most of my informatiion including an analysis by your Great Aunt.

It has been a real pleasure visiting with you and I will send a letter along with a copy of the information that I have, very soon. Good luck on your search.
