Elisée "Elisa" Ducros Jumonville Villiers Marsoudet

I show Elisée "Elisa" Ducros Jumonville Villiers m. Jean Philippe Marsoudet/Marsondet bef 1840, New Orleans. They had one child Rodolphe Philippe Marsoudet, 1841-1860, and I think another, Julia Marsoudet. 1859-1934.
I am reasonably sure she was the daughter of Ducros of New Orleans, but which one? Rodolphe-Joseph Ducros, 1755-1806,(the patriarch?) had a number of sons in New Orleans.
Can anyone help? I have more info at http://www.adkins9.net/individual.php?pid=I8203 -
Tom Adkins, thomas@adkins9.net

Hi Julie! So nice to hear from you. Yes, I live in Texas. My dad, Clayton, was Frank's 2nd son. They had an infant (Frank Laurance) that died in 1925, then my Dad was born in 1926. I've been in contact with Frank (Tom's son) off and on for about 10 years; prior to that I never knew my Dad had living siblings. I'd love to visit with you so please email me sometime (charla_easterbrook@sbcglobal.net). Take care! Charla

Hi Everyone! I'm new to genealogy. My dad, Clayton Barbay, was born to Frank Lawrence and Myrtle (Kerner) Barbay. I do not know a lot about the Barbay side of the family. Frank divorced my grandmother when my dad; I know that Frank remarried and had 2 other children before his accidental drowning. Frank's mom and my great grandmother was Daisy Olano Barbay. Any insight any of you have into the family would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

My great grandmother must be Laura Olano. My family called her Mamie and I don't ever remember meeting her. I'm sure I did as a baby! My father pointed out that the web site I linked to was created by his Uncle Don's daughter Bethany, who is my cousin on the Olano/Ryder side of the family! I had no idea.

Yes, I knew "Aunt" Laura and attended her wake here in Baton Rouge. Thanks for sending along the document on Juan Francisco Olano--it is interesting! The family lore I always heard from the Charlie Olano family was that Juan Francisco was born in Spain and his wife, Marie Louise Margot, was born in Switzerland. However, when her family arrived in 1849, they were listed as Bavarians. As you probably know, Laura Olano, later Ryder, was named for her mother's sister, Laura Barbay, who became the wife of Louis Margot, no doubt a cousin, and the owner of the auto muffler company.

My father is a Ryder and his grandmother is an Olano. I was reading your thread and found this interesting document about Francisco Olano.

http://issuu.com/betharrison/docs/old_fashioned_journal2

Just paste that into your browser window and zoom in so you can read it clearly. Very interesting document for those interested in Olano family history. On the next page they have copies of the actual census documents listing him, his wife, and children.

Just in case you've never found the answer to your query-- Thomas Henry Olano was born, according to census records, in March 1874, probably in Barataria, Jefferson Ph., LA, where his parents made their home. They were Juan Francisco Olano and Julia Margot, emigrants from Spain and Switzerland respectively. Thomas Henry's brother, Charles Olano, married Marie Emma Barbay, 6 Sept. 1893 at St. Paul's Church in Bayou Goula. Her parents were Louis Omèr Barbay and Celeste Devilliers. They married at St. John the Evangelist church in Plaquemine, Iberville Ph., LA on 5 Oct. 1869.

It states that two of Thomas Barbay's siblings are Emma Barbay Olano and Laura Barbay Margot(this is the Aunt Laura my mother talks of). Thanks for your link to the pictures of the gravesites. I noticed a Frank Olano, I must look at it again to see if this is the Frank that married Mary Louise Margot - my other set of great grandparents. So many brothers and sisters married brothers and sisters that we have double cousins.

Just started researching my mother's family and am looking for any information we can find on the ancestors of Jean Baptiste and Felicite. They lived in St. Landry Parish from about 1843 til about 1920. They had 8 children, including one set of twins (Theogene and Ermosa). Theogene was my maternal great grandfather.

Any information would be helpful. Theogene's daughter, my grandmother, would not discuss her family. So, we are conducting this research 8 yers after her death.
Thank you for the info. I just want to make sure I have this correct - the children's names that you listed are the children of Ulger & Emna Devillier? Is that correct? Seems Omar Barbay married Ulger & Emna's child Celeste. Does it state Celeste's age? Celeste & Omar were my great grandparents. Thanks again.

Pam,
I believe if Corbit Devillier had a Social Security death he wouldn't have died as a child. In some of the families they would have another son and name them the same name as a dead child to persive the name. I had that happen in my Lanclos family two Gersime Lanclos by the same parents. One died as a child and the other is my great Grandfather. It a possibality. Maggie

He died when he was 2 years old. So I am back to square one again. So close and yet so far away. When I pulled his birth records up he was born on Mar 12 1893 and died Jul 17 1895 . Well when you come home you let me know and maybe we can get together I still have family in Port Barre. Well go to go see ya.
Pam

That's my problem I have nothing on my grandfathers parents. My father and I have not spoken in 20 years so I cann't ask him. As far as my mothers side of the family. My mother was Verlie Robin daughter of Theodore Robin and Edna Gauthreaux . Theodore's parents were Jerome Robin and Marie Louise Blousson . I have had a hard time with the name Blousson also. her parents were Jean Blousson and Carolyn Gayardo.
My grandfather was born 3/12/1893 and died 8/1969 in Loranger, Tangipahoa La. He had remarried after he and my grandmother had devorced. She was Ida Landry before they married from St. Landry Parish. My grandparents only had one child my dad Earl Joseph Devilliers b. June 27th 1915 . Thanks forr taking the time to help me maybe someday I can return the favor.
Pam
