My maternal gmother, Ida, was a Devine of Phillipsburg, NJ.
Her siblings were Andrew, Abbey, William, Jesse, John, Charles, Elizabeth, James & Edward. Her father, William Leslie Devine emigrated from Denny Scotland. For many years Billie managed the Passmore House in Phillipsburg PA and eventually became the owner of this hotel. All of his sons carry the middle name of "Passmore". I am not including dates here but if any of this sounds like it might fit into your family tree, please feel free to contact me @ judidootoo@sbcglobal.net. There is another person following the line of Jesse (named above) and they might be a Myer. Judy

My grandfather William was born Devine but at some point the name was changed to Duan. He was born in South London in 1884 d 1971 in Surrey. His siblings names were Sarah Ann b1892d 1980. Annie Maud b 1897? d 1921. Frederick b 1903 d 1965. George Albert b 1902? d 1944. Their parents were William Devine/ Duan b 1862. d 1937. Sarah Thomas b 1862 d 1941.I believe they were both born in Ireland. They lived in Peckham and Walworth, where my Father William was born in 1904. unfortunatley I only found out about his family when any relatives who could have told me more had already died. looking through census records I wonder if perhaps a brother or another relative moved from Ireland and moved into the same area and this could be your line of the tree.

Moore in England before they same to America. They were married about 1861 and came to America in 1865 and first settled in the state of New York, later moving to
Minnesota and then to North Dakota.

Looking for any information on or descendants of John Devine and his wife Elizabeth Hutton. They were both born about 1790 in Ireland and moved to Eastwood, Pollokshaws, Renfrewshire, Scotland in about 1823. Their first 2 children, James(1816) and Bernard(1821) were born in Ireland. Their other children were born in Pollokshaws, Scotland: Mary,John, Peter, Janet David, Agnes, Daniel, and William. Peter, born about 1828, was my gr.gr.grandfather. He married Elizabeth Stewart in Eastwood in 1852. I have found the family of John and Elizabeth Devine in the 1841,1851, and 1861 Scotland Census.

I am coming up sort on everything.

I am trying to find a Don/Donald Devine born abt. 1920 in New York, possibly Brooklyn.
He had a brother named Robert. A daughter named Jeanne, who's married name is Loper. She married a Rodger Loper and had possibly 4 daughters that I have found; Wendy, Kathleen, Jacquelyn, and Sherry and lives in Wattsburg, PA.

At one time, Don, was married to my grandmother Lois Jeanne Hankammer. They had a boy together, my father, Jeffrey, but they divorced by the time my dad was a few months old and my he has since been adopted by his step-father, Wilbur Holaday.

I am trying to find anything that could help.
Mainly, because, my dad's half sister, Jeanne, had wrote him a few years ago and we never heard anything back.

The only search that has came up on here is a 1930 Census from Manhattan, NY with the mother listed as Celia Westing, step-father listed Edward Westing, brothers Francis, Robert, and John.

I just would like to complete my tree, not wanting anything other than that.

All of the info is estimates & possible matches, so please, if you have any info or corrections, please let me know.
Ancestry has boards for looking for living family members (adoption boards). Even though yours is not adoption related, there are many on those boards with experience in looking for biological parents.
Also go to the Ancestry boards for where you know your dad last lived. Does your country have a tax id number (we in USA use a social security number..it never changes)...if your country has one...maybe they can forward a letter to your dad's last known address.
Marge

Thomas Devine (b. 1877) and Elizabeth Plate, Jersey City

I would appreciate any info pertaining to this Devine Family. In the 1900 Jersey City Census they are listed:

Thomas Devine 22 b. Dec 1877 New Jersey, parents born Ireland
Eliza Devine 21 wife
Henry Plate 13 brother in law (Eliza's brother)

I can't find the family in 1910, but by the 1920 census listed with Eliza's sister Anna Dalton again in Jersey City is:
Thomas Devine 16 (b. 1904 New Jersey)
William Devine 14(b. 1906 New Jersey)

I'm wondering who Thomas' parents are and if he and Eliza had died before 1920.
Eliza Devine - Ireland to Springfield MA

Hello, I am looking for any family related to my great great grandmother Eliza Devine Donahue. She was born in Ireland (possibly Co. Mayo) about 1834 and died in Springfield MA August 26th 1894. She married John Donahue and had 3 living children. Her death record states her mother's name was Eliza and her father's name was John Devine.
It appears by some phone listings that there were other Devine families living close but I do not know for sure how or if they were related.
I have a funeral card for a Lizzie Devine who was about 13 when she died. The card was published in Philadelphia PA. I am not sure if that means that is where she died?

If anyone has more information about these families, please contact me.

You don't need to live there to put an ad in the paper. My uncle lived in Australia, his brother who lived in America put an ad in the Sydney Herald to track him down, you can do the same.

This is a contact link for the Widnes newspaper found through Google: http://www.runcornandwidnesworld.co.uk/my/contactus/

Do you know anything about your fathers family/friends? When your Mam was married (I presume in England) who was best man, grooms men etc. Someone knows your father and 13yrs isn't that long. Was your father from Widnes or some other part of Chesire? What did he work at, was he self employed etc? You need to ask your Mam for details on your father and use them to track him down. Devine is too common a name, there are going to be lots of Franks married to Rachels etc. Have you got a photo of him you could put in the paper if asked?

All the best,
Rob

Have you got an actual scan of this document, instead of a photo? Scan it at the highest possible resolution and I (or other) should be able to help.

Btw I wouldn't store your document in that photo album as it will cause it to deteriorate. Ask your local photo shop for an acidic free album or store it in a cardboard folder/envelope.

Rob Devine
