Hello Cousin! How exciting it is to hear from you! I have all the info you need....Doris is my great Aunt!!! I am her sister Edna's oldest grandchild. I met Doris years ago, in about 1980 in Parksville, BC at a family reunion. I wrote to her a few years ago to get information on her and hers for my research, but I did not hear back :0(. We are also searching for any information on the Devonshire family. Our family lineage is through Doris Ruby Rodda. Her mother was Jessie Pearce and her mother was Sarah Jane Devonshire married to Albert Henry Pearce. Our records show Sarah Jane Devonshire was born May23, 1875 in Devonshire, England. We do not have a death date but she is listed as died in Plymouth, England. Her mother's name is listed as Laura Vincent. She is also listed as having two girl children unknown names,
John Pearce born?
Jessie Pearce born November 1, 1895
George Henry Pearce Born 1897
Viola Isabelle Pearce Born 1899
Edward James Pearce Born 1905
Laura Ann Pearce Born 1907

Have only just become a member of ancestry but been collecting family info last couple of years. I think I have a link with your Devonshire Tree Line.(Still adding to The Ancestory Family Tree and haven't added them on yet but come upon your Tree and couldn't believe the link.)

My Great Grandfather was Wallace Hibbert (1861) and his wife Winifred Devonshire (born 1861). She was born in Beaconsfield and worked in Ickenham (Swakeleys House)where she met Wallace (he worked as a Gardener there). (All my family were born in Ickenham)

They married abt 1882 and had four children.

Winifred (1886)
May (1888)
Guy Wallace (1890)(my Grandad)- I note in some records he is recorded as George Wallace.
Alice (1892)

They all lived in Pinner, Middlesex for a while and they moved to Bushey in Waltford, Herts.

I believe Winifred was Joseph and Maria's Child. My Auntie talks about family from Beaconsfield and remembers a great uncle who came to visit. I have a photo which was taken in Bushey which has quite a few family members (not sure who's wedding it is - it may have been one of my Great Aunt's.)

I hope to update my tree in the next couple of days so you can see the connection.

I am now able to give William the correct birth date as I had it as 1839 instead of 1837. I come through John's brother, George Valentine Lasseter.
Any stories you have would be welcomed as I have done a book. I had a Lasseter reunion in 2008 - not many attended but we had a good time. It was the first one. Hope there will be more.

My birth name is Judith Lasseter b. 1946. I am now known as Judes Crow. My great grandfather was William Lasseter born 21/09/1837 at Portsea Island, Sub district of Landport & Southsea,County of Southampton. He later moved to Gunwalloe, Cornwall as a coastguard and married Julianna Oats, my great grandmother. His parents (on his birth certificate) were John Lasseter and Eliza Devonshire of East Street, Town Field, Landport - my great great grandparents!

So I'd be interested to hear how you are connected and what information you have on John Lasseter and Eliza Devonshire, as I have none at present.

David Devonshire came with his mother Susannah and brother Wickes on the Caldonia . They arrived in New York on 19 Apr 1830. They first settled in Avon, Ohio.
David was Baptised on 28 Jan 1828 at St. Bride Fleet Street Church, London. I have some other information, but can't find it right now.

Delores, do you know where Alphratta Devonshire McClenney is buried? She would have died at or near Heber Springs, Arkansas. I have seen the graves of her parents in Cleburne County, also her husband, but I do not know where she is buried. Do you know where her grave is? Thank you.

She was born May 23, 1875 to James Devonshire and Laura Vincent. Sarah Jane married Albert Henry (or Harry Albert) Pearce, and they had Jessie (born 1895), Laura Hannah (born 1907), and Edward Albert Pearce. To the best of our knowledge, they may have come from around Plymouth, in Devonshire, England, and may have immigrated to Canada. Thomzin Devonshire/George Thomas Wingate

I am seeking information about my GGG Grandparents Thomzin Devonshire and George Thomas Wingate (who rose to the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy) who were married in Portsea, England on 20 FEB 1801.

Shortly after marriage Thomas was a prisoner of war in Verdun, France for a number of years. Thomzin was with him during his captivity and 4 of their children were born in Verdun.

I suspect that Thomzin was born in Demarel, Devon while George Thomas was from Stirling, Scotland.

Any information or possible leads would be most welcome.

I do not know where they entered the US but know he was living in Robinson, Ill. where he was married to Margaret Higgins in 1864. They moved to Heber Springs, Ark. sometime before 1900. Hi I have done a lot of research into the Devonshire family that came from Stoke Poges in Buckinghamshire in England.
I am a New Zealander my great grandfather Joseph was the eldest son of Joseph Devonshire and Jane Connett, he jumped ship in NZ during the mid 1800s, his grandparents left his father and older sister Sophie orphans, but my research has shown there was a large family in the area.

I have a James Devonshire born 1779 Truro - dont know who he married but his brothers Richard and John were in the Royal Navy so it is possible he travelled around alot like them. Do you know where Sarah's father James was from? Why do you think Plymouth?

I have the will of the above man from 1670 who names various cousins and other people. When his widow Elizabeth died in 1684, her will named some of these same people, plus others. I am trying to find the actual relationship as one of those named was Daniel's cousin, Abraham DEVONSHIRE of Kilsby. Abraham is known to have lived in Kilsby between 1665-1683 at a minimum.
If the names HURST, IZZARD, FREAR, PAINE, GUMLEY from Ullesthorpe and Claybrook areas in the 1600s ring bells, please contact me.
