George Dewey (Admiral) was the son of Dr. Julius Yemans and Mary (Perrin) Dewey and was born on December 26, 1837 in Montpelier, VT. He died on January 16, 1917 in Washington, DC. Simeon Dewey was the son of William, I and Mercy (Bailey) Dewey and was born on May 1, 1718 in Montpelier, VT. William Dewey, I was the son Josiah, II and Mehitable (Miller) Dewey and was born on January 1, 1692 in North Hampton, MA. William was the oldest of five siblings; Josiah, born March 1, 1697, in Westfield, MA, Joseph born December 24, 1697 in Northhampton, MA, John, born December 4, 1700 in Lebanon, CT, Mary, born October 24, 1704 in Lebanon, CT, and Mehitable, born June 29, 1708 in Lebanon, CT. Josiah, II was the son of Josiah, I and Hepzibah (Lyman) Dewey and was born on December 24, 1666 in Northhamton, MA. Josiah, I was the son of Thomas and Frances (Clark) Dewey and was born on October 10, 1641 in Windsor, CT. Thomas Dewey was the first Dewey ancestor to come to America in 1630 from Sandwich, Kent, England.
