I have found several posts with varying bits of information listed in them on different sites regarding James Marshall DeWitt. I am a grandson of James. Could you please provide me with further information that you have gathered? Scams on these sites are not uncommon. I am willing to communicate through emails for the time being.

I will start by saying that James has passed away, so I will not be able to approach him on your behalf. Can you provide proof of adoption and perhaps a name?

James Marshall DeWitt Lynchburg, VA

ISO information on James Marshall DeWitt or DeWit from Lynchburg VA - my possible birthfather. Would have daughter Clora or Clara and a son (unknown name)they would be my 1/2 siblings from another marriage.......his wife was possibly named Margaret perhaps called Peggy. My mother was never married to James.......I was told I was the product of a short affair she had with him in 1953/54 in the Baltimore area. Ive been told James worked for the Virginia Power and Light Company and was married to Peggy/Margaret at the time I was concieved. My mothers name was also Margaret and could have used Goodmon, Bayard or Calvert for her surname Im not sure. I believe my father may not be alive however very interested in finding any of his family members so I could know something....anything about him. I was adopted in 1955/56 given the name Swenson. My birth records are sealed so I cannot see birth father. I was born in the Salvation Army home for Unwed Mothers in Jersey City, NJ I believe the adoption was private. Also, interested in medical history, family lines and possible siblings. I would appreciate any help I have been looking for 25 + years.
Looking for Anna DeWit Children

Hannah Seeders born in Illinois in 1883, married my maternal g-grandfather, Benjamin Wenzel in 1897/8 in South Dakota. Upon his death in 1906, she had borne him five children, Herman, Benjamin, John, Alberta and Joseph. There was also two step-daughters from Ben's first marriage named Nettie and Emma. The boys and Emma were given up to foster care via the South Dakota Childrens Home in 1908. By 1920, Hannah(now Anna)had remarried an Iowa farmer by the name of DeWit. In the 1920s, the DeWits farmed in the Sheldon and Ocheydan, Iowa areas. By 1926, Anna had been united with her sons. Looking for any and all information concerning this lost group of my relatives. Particularly an obituary for Anna and any indication of what happened later in life to the five children. With the exception of Joseph, the boys retained the surname of Wenzel. Joseph had been adopted by a family in Chester, South Dakota and given a new surname (unknown at this time).
I believe that Herman served in WW1 and died in Wisconsin in 1970 and that John spent the majority of his life in Washington state, dying there in 1977, however none of this is confirmed.

Maria"Polly"BANGHART DEVITT (1775-?)

Seeking any information on Polly, born in NJ,married George Ribble abt 1793,son George B Ribble born abt 1794. Husband died shortly after. In 1800 she married Dennis Devitt from Ireland. 7 children were born in Ramsayburg, NJ before they re-located to Ontario, Canada. 2 more children were born in Canada before she fled back to the States taking the youngest with her but leaving as many as five with her husband. That is the last we know of her but believe she may have altered her name to DeWitt. It is possible that the youngest child (Joseph?)became Banghart DeWitt. Did she flee to NJ, PA, OH, Michigan or where? Even IN is possible.
jcareypearce@home.com
