I wonder if Catherine de Witt, daughter of Barent and Sarah (van Tassel) de Witt, was ever married to Thomas Heyert (Hyatt) after John Smithson. The Hyatt and de Witt families seem to have been very close, and both had ties to New Castle, Delaware. Thomas Hyatt (probably the son of Thomas Hyatt and Elizabeth van Lent) died in 1756 while married to a woman named Catherine with children Thomas, John, Valentine, Isaac, Abraham, Ephraim, Catherine, Mary, Eleanor, Susannah, Rebecca, Rachel, Sarah, Anne, possibly Hannah, and one other daughter whose name was not recorded in her father's will.
I suspect these are the same Hyatts that were later found in Edgecombe, North Carolina, but more than circumstantial evidence is lacking.
