Jeanette H. DiCarlo, age 74,
a resident of Erie passed away Tuesday June 17, 2008 at St. Mary’s at Asbury Ridge. She was born May 22, 1934 in Newton, Mass. the daughter of the late Edmund and Amelia Alterio. After graduating from high school, Jan began a career in law working for various attorney offices. In 1957 she moved to Erie and began work in the office of the late Judge Samuel Y. Rossiter. Following that, she worked many years for the Quinn Law firm and later with Knox McLaughlin, Gornall & Sennett. Jan was a member of St. George Catholic Church and was an avid golfer. She played for over 20 years in the Tuesday Nite Ladies League at Downing and also in the Sunday Nite Mixed League at Over Lake Golf Course. She also enjoyed rousing discussions of politics and current events. But her true love was her family, she was a devoted and loving mother and wife who always put her family first. She was beloved by all and a true friend to many.
Jan is survived by her husband Russell DiCarlo; two daughters, Laurie Powell and her husband Michael of Columbus, Ohio, Jacqueline Vietmeier and her husband Gregory of Jefferson Borough, Pa.;
two sons, Russell E. and Brian J. DiCarlo, both of Erie; a sister Marie Walker of Newton, Mass.; and a brother Edmund Alterio of Framingham, Mass. She is the grandmother of Jace Powell, Maria DiCarlo, and Victoria, Danielle, Angela and Ryan Vietmeier. Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Friday at 10:00 a.m. in St. George Catholic Church. Burial will be private.
