John Theiss/Tice/Dice, born in Germany in 1747, married Gertrude Schmidt born 1750 in Germany. Their children, Barbara Ann, John, Elizabeth, Gertrude and Jacob were born from 1774 to 1788 in Washington Co. PA. Gertrude remarried Michael Simon after John's death.

John II married either Mary Spargo or Mary Smith (I'm not certain which is correct--there are two different accounts) in Ohio in 1799. Their children are John III, Betsy, Joseph, George, Abraham, Jacob, Lydia, Matthew, and Eli.

John Dice III born 1800 (my line) married Margaret Renfrew Phillips. Their children, Ira James (my great grandfather) and Mary were born in Ohio.

Ira married Margaret Smith and they moved to Cedar County Iowa, then West Liberty, Iowa. Their children are Jennie Luella, Lilly, Lucy, Albert Lee (my grandfather), Clifford, Winifred, Edwin and Harland all born in eastern Iowa. My grandfather, Albert Lee was born in Linn County, Iowa, and died in Muscatine County.

George, John III's brother, married Margaret Phillips' sister, Catherine.

Anyone who has this line is very welcome to contact me.
April

Marion Dice of Elliott & Carter Counties, KY

I am looking for anyone with information about the family of Marion Dice and wife Martha. Marion was born about 1870, son of Pete Dice and Amanda Adkins.

Marion is found in the 1900 Elliott KY census with wife Martha, married 10 years.

Children in the home include:
Lizzie
Cara or Cora
Monia
Nora
Amanda

In 1910, Marion Dice is found in the Carter KY census and is listed as widowed. There is death record for a Marion Dice in Carter KY, death date 1931.

I am particularly interested in information on the wife of Marion Dice, Martha. I believe that her maiden name was Parker and that she was married to a John Arnold prior to marrying Marion Dice, however, I have nothing to confirm this. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Montella Dice / Maud Jennings marriage, 1896, Indiana

From the Indian Marriage Records Index, 1845-1920 the is a listing for Montella Dice marrying Maud Jennings on April 8, 1896 in St. Joseph County, Indiana. I have been unable to find this couple in the 1900 census.

I'm trying to determine the fate of Maud B. Jennings born about 1870 to Mary & Francis Jennings in Indiana.

Does anyone have information on Montella Dice that might help me determine if this is the same Maud Jennings.

Thanks.

I'm looking for any connection to our Dice line. My father-in-law has very little info, both of his grandparents died when he was young. His Father was Robert Franklin Dice Sr. born in Wichita, Ks. July 28,1906, married Bess Sutter. His Dad Jerry W. Dice came to Kansas from Lancaster County Penn, married Maybelle Hall. She came from Valley Center and Sedgwick, Ks. She died about 1925 in Wichita. That is the extent of the family info.

The (now-removed) Naked Creek Methodist Church was a short walk over the creek from the house. jd-glover@attbi.com

John Dice b.1700's? Lancaster PA. > York Pennsylvania

There is a review from Mennonite Family History Magazine Jan 2001 for the book "Descendants of Joh Matthias and Susanna Barbara (Lauer) Theiss, Deiss, Tice, Dice".I am wondering if my mother-in- laws Dise/Dice family has a connection in the book. It is the same family as found at this webpage.
http://meltingpot.fortunecity.com/indiana/900/dicegen.html

Below are the earliest generations I have from mother in laws family notes. I am searching for a John Dice born in the 1700's in Lancaster PA.who married a Magdalena Frey and lived in York PA. The below family tree is not based on my research and is not sourced so there may be some errors. If I can find the connection I plan on buying a copy of the book. Both are buried in New Faiview Church of the Brethren (Stumps) cemetery in York Twp, PA. Willard, of Washington, D. C.,
now ambassador to Spain.

In 1899, Mr. Dice moved to Lewisburg and was principal of the high school for
three years, and for twelve years succeeding became engaged in general
insurance business.
