I John Dice of the Borough of Chambersburg in The County of Franklin in the Commmonwealth of Pennsylvania ...unto my son Christian,... unto my son John Dice, ...unto my daughter Elizabeth Reed, ...I give and bequeath Eve Flotz...unto my daughter Barbara Grove,... unto my son Michael Dice,... unto my Grandaughter Julia Kieffer, child of my daughter Polly Dice,...to be paid when she arrives to the age of ten years and I hereby appoint Christian Grove as Guardian ..unto my daughter Barbara Grove as compensation for her attendance in my illness....my aforesaid six Children...appoint my son in law Christian Grove and my friend Peter Eberly to be the Executors ....in the year of our Lord One thousand and eight hundred and eight.

At this time I have not found a connection to the line of Dices I am researching I did find an online tree that has many descendants of this family at. It's reliability is unknown.

Does anyone have information on the origins of this family?
John Dice, (b. April,1852) married Carrie Yost, (b. November 1863). They were both born in Pennsylvania. They moved to Ohio where son Roland A., (b.November 1883) and daughter Addie M.,(b.October 1886)were born. Sons Charles R. (born December 1888)and Byron A. (b.August 24, 1890)were born in Kansas. Youngest children William E. (b.October 1894), Walter S. (b. January 1898) and Pearl V. (b. July 1999) were born in Missouri.

I need help. Is Michael Dice that married Christina E. Ream in Stark, Ohio on 01-31-1839 the same Michael Dice that is on the 1860 and 1870 Plainfield, Will co., IL census? Wife listed as Elizabeth. Is he the same Michael Dice that married Lorina Travulete in IL. on 05-03-1882? Does anyone have a copy of this marriage license showing his mother's maiden name?

John Theiss/Tice/Dice of Washington Co. PA

John Theiss/Tice/Dice, born in Germany in 1747, married Gertrude Schmidt born 1750 in Germany. Their children, Barbara Ann, John, Elizabeth, Gertrude and Jacob were born from 1774 to 1788 in Washington Co. PA. Gertrude remarried Michael Simon after John's death.

John II married either Mary Spargo or Mary Smith (I'm not certain which is correct--there are two different accounts) in Ohio in 1799. Their children are John III, Betsy, Joseph, George, Abraham, Jacob, Lydia, Matthew, and Eli.

John Dice III born 1800 (my line) married Margaret Renfrew Phillips. Their children, Ira James (my great grandfather) and Mary were born in Ohio.

Ira married Margaret Smith and they moved to Cedar County Iowa, then West Liberty, Iowa. Their children are Jennie Luella, Lilly, Lucy, Albert Lee (my grandfather), Clifford, Winifred, Edwin and Harland all born in eastern Iowa. My grandfather, Albert Lee was born in Linn County, Iowa, and died in Muscatine County.

George, John III's brother, married Margaret Phillips' sister, Catherine.

George Clinton Dice was born on Oct. 6, 1884 in Hutchinson (Reno Co.), KS. On Apr. 18, 1922, he joined the Sons of the American Revolution, on behalf of the service of his Revolutionary War ancestor, Silas Harrison.

The 1930 census showed George Dice in Hutchinson, KS.

pastor of Bethel United Presbyterian Church, in North Beaver Township, is known from one end of the county to the other, having warm and appreciative friends in every section. He was born at Poland, in Mahoning County, Ohio, November 12, 1844, and is a son of George and Catherine Allen (Phillips) Dice.

In 1848, the parents of Mr. Dice moved to Crawford County, Pennsylvania, and there he was reared until 1862, when he accompanied his parents in their removal to New Wilmington, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.

"John Dice (German Descent) came from Lancaster Co to York Co. PA also, two brothers, George and Andrew, another brother went to Clinton Co the same spring. He became the great grandfather of Rev. Andrew D. Gramly of Central PA Ev (Evangelical?) Conference.
John Dice was married to Magdalena Frey, whose father came from Germany and lived in York Co. A number of their children died with smallpox. Six grew up."

Looking for info on George Dice married to a Hannah Melvina Orr. They had 4 children: George Alfred, Wallace, Mabel and Ellis. Wallace married Catherine Dunn, and had 2 Boys: Daniel and Edward. According to what I have Edward didn't marry but Daniel did to Theresa LaVogue. Mabel married Dave Stevenson and had 8 children (one by the name of Della), Ellis married Maria Dunn (unknown if related to Catherine), they had 4 Children: Maria, Bernice, Harry and a twin to Harry that died very young. Harry is my grandfather. Any information on the above would be greatly appreciated.

I recently purchased a CDV photograph of a young lady dressed in equestrian attire. The photographer was O'Neill, Wheeling, WVa; penciled on the back of the photograph is "Jane Dise". The "s" in Dise could pass for a "c". Is this a relative of anyone?

Peter b 1778 in Lancaster Co., PA died Nov 1841 in Plum Twp., Allegheny Co.,PA. He married Christina SCHNEIDER in Schwartzwald Reformed Church in Berks Co., PA( 24 Sept 1799). Christina's parents were ? and Dorothy Miller SCHNEIDER. They are both buried in Hankey's Cemetery in Westmoreland Co., PA.

Lester Dice, 85, of Riverton, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WVa.
Mr. Dice was born in Riverton on May 29, 1918 and was the son of the late Grant Dice and Texie Harper Dice.
He owned and operated Dice's Cash Store in Circleville and was a farmer and rural mail carrier.
His wife, Mary Rebecca Mallow Dice, preceded him in death March 6, 1986.
He is survived by three daughters; Shirley Sites of Onego, Loretha Vandevander of Whitmer and Reva Arbaugh of Circleville, a sister, Kate Kimble of Ashland, Va, eight grand-grandchildren: Donna Bennett, Seneca Rocks, Delbert J. Vandevander, Volga, Dianna Sauters, Pomeroy, Oh, Delores Bender, Buckhannon, Ronnie Arbaugh, Cabins, Sheldon Arbaugh, Moorefield and Amanda Rexrode, Franklin.
10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and three step-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, one brother - Marvin Dice and one great-grandson, Casey Mark Sauters.
The Revs Earl Bible and R. Malone conducted the funeral at 11 a. m. Wednesday, Oct 1, 2003 at the Chapel of Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin.
Burial was in the Dice Family Cemetery, Timber Ridge at Riverton.

I am looking for anyone with information about the family of Marion Dice and wife Martha. Marion was born about 1870, son of Pete Dice and Amanda Adkins.

Marion is found in the 1900 Elliott KY census with wife Martha, married 10 years.

Children in the home include:

Amanda

In 1910, Marion Dice is found in the Carter KY census and is listed as widowed. There is death record for a Marion Dice in Carter KY, death date 1931.

I am particularly interested in information on the wife of Marion Dice, Martha. I believe that her maiden name was Parker and that she was married to a John Arnold prior to marrying Marion Dice, however, I have nothing to confirm this. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

July 28,1906, married Bess Sutter. His Dad Jerry W. Dice came to Kansas from Lancaster County Penn, married Maybelle Hall. She came from Valley Center and Sedgwick, Ks. She was born June 6, 1918, in Koehler, N.M.

Mrs. Dice was a clerk.

She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Dice of Cheyenne; a brother, Melvin Phelps Jr. of Prescott,
Ariz.; and a grandchild.

Mrs. Dice was preceded in death by a son, Donald Dice.

Arrangements will be made at a later date.

Note: I am of no relation, but my sympathies go out to those of you who are.
This is here as a lasting memorial for Mrs. Dice.

Looking for clues to ancestors of Peter DICE(b 1775, d 1857) s/o John Dice who died in 1788 in Brecknock Twp.,Lancaster Co., PA.Peter's mother died in 1891. Peter had 2 farms- one in Holiday Park, Allegheny County and the other near West Lebanon, Armstrong Co., PA.

Deeds to these farms indicate that Peter obtained these farms bet 1820-1830 from a Robert Sample of Williamson Co., TN. There is a small cemetery on the property in Armstrong Co where there is a Thomas DICE buried with a Revolutionary marker but no dates and a Henry G. DICE buried with the dates 1717-1809.

HON. JOHN CALVERT DICE.

Hon. John Calvert Dice, postmaster of Lewisburg, and Judge Charles Samuel
Dice, sons of Rev. John Cunningham Dice, at one time presiding elder of the
Lewisburg (W. Va.) district of the Baltimore Conference of the Methodist
Episcopal Church, South, are descendants of a long line of ministers, with
ancestry of German origin on the paternal side, the name originally having
been written Deiss.

Tradition locates three brothers of this family who came from York county,
Pennsylvania, to the present Pendleton county, West Virginia, but of these
nothing is definitely known execpt that Mathias Dice served in the French and
Indian war, and he, at least, arrived in Pendleton county in 1757.
~cut~He <John Calvert Dice> was born in Hamilton, Loudoun county, Virginia September 27, 1872. After
graduating from the high school' in Staunton, he attended Randolph-Macon
College at Ashland, Va. And thus equipped for giving instruction, he taught
school for twelve years in Virginia and West Virginia, after which he was for
two years private secretary to Hon. Joseph E. Willard, of Washington, D. C.,
now ambassador to Spain.

In 1899, Mr. Dice moved to Lewisburg and was principal of the high school for
three years, and for twelve years succeeding became engaged in general

William and Mary died while my GFather William Lee was a small child and I can find no info on where William Porter was born or who his parents are....

Looking for info on the Dice family. My gg grandfather is Pearl Dice Sr.1886 - 1969 and his wife was Myrtle Dice 1892 - 1964
Their son was Pearl A. Dice US Army WWII Feb. 18, 1920 - Nov. 1, 1992 and he married Betty dice who is still living in Midland, MI.

Just getting started...
I only know my Grandfathers name was the same as mine (Daniel Eugene Dice). He died around 1970, and I figure he was in his late 60's.
So birth year of 1900-1910. I know of a Dice family cemetary in Rolla,(sp?)Missouri.
His wife was Rose, maiden name Bauer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
