James was my GG Grandfather & I am searching for Elizabeth Dickens and their children Jane and Martha.

I know a lot about James (1830), he was a chimney sweep and he ended up in Hanwell Lunatic Asylum, Middlsex, England. I cannot find any further trace of his wife Elizabeth .
I have found two entries for Martha, one of them she ended up in Darenth Asylum in Kent, but there is no trace of Jane at all.

I have exhausted all my leads

Hello,

I don't know that I can help. I'm Jason A. Dickens, but clearly not the one you are looking for. I've discovered there are quite a few on the web now.

Anyway, I came across this and was curious. Personally, however, I was adopted into the Dickens family, but I could maybe inquire through my family for you.
Email me at ejd027 at yahoo.
Thanks for your post. I have not been on this site for awhile. I did find my Dicken gggrandmother. Her family came to WI first in 1853 then to MN. The family name was Olsen but some of them changed it to Dicken. The names seems to be a mix up mess. There seem to be ten children some of them did not come to the State until later. And they seem to be family still in Norway. Here are some of they name Berthe, Anne, Ole, Karen my grandmother, Christen killed at Andersonville, John, Signid,Elise.
Irene

Thanks,

My mother's maiden name was Johnston instead of Johnson. Maybe you have some information on the Johnston family. My grandmother was a Mullins from the Blair and St. Albans WV areas. My mother was raised by her grandmother in, I believe, the Van area and was best friends with my aunt Lilian Dickens and cousin Juanita Cook. She also may have attended Van H. S. some time in the late 1920's.

Ray

My mistake -- Georgia Tennessee Dickens Martin was not a Williams. Do you have a marriage record for John Stokes and Lula Martin? If not, what other records do you have on her and her children? Lula had a daughter named Beverly Laura Stokes who was born about 1925, so she should be in the 1930 census record for that family.

Thank you for the information, but I believe you have the wrong death certificate for William G Martin. First of all, he was alive in 1920 per the census records, so could not have been the one who died in Jackson county on 19 Jan 1917. Also, the William G Martin I am seeking is a white man and the death certificate you mentioned is for a negro man.

I have found the death certificates for Georgia Tennessee Dickens Williams, her daughter Lula Blanche Martin Stokes, and her son, William Perry -- all died in Webb City. Griffin died in California and I have his SSDI info. I still need a death date/place for Granville, Sam and their father, William G Martin. Sam was living in Kansas when his sister died. I suspect William G Martin also died in the Webb City area, but his death certificate isn't in the archives even under various spellings as far as I can tell. I also need the first name of Mr. Stokes who Lula married. She was divorced at the time of her death so no husband is listed for her. If you have further info on any members of this family, please let me know. Thanks. ~Paula

Georgia Tennessee Dickens - born 1874 in Arkansas

William Martin (middle name is Greenville or Granville) and Georgia Tennessee Dickens (daughter of Erasmus Richard Dickens and Hester Ann Willis) were married in Arkansas. They moved to Oklahoma and finally to Webb City, Jasper county, Missouri where they both died. Their children, all born in Arkansas) were Granville P Martin (born about 1894), Perry Martin (born about 1901), Lula Martin (born about 1904 and married unknown Stokes), Griffin Martin (1907-1967), and Sam W Martin (born about 1914). If you have information about any of these people, please respond. Thanks

Dickens of Riseley

Hi to all the people trying to work out who's who in Riseley.
Like you all, I've found it quite baffling trying to work out all the inter breading that went on all those hundreds of years ago. I have married into the Dickens Dynasty recently and started to try and trace my wife's ancestors. My wife Michelle is the Gr Gr Gr Grand daughter of Jonathan Dickens brother of Stephen Dickens who married Elizabeth Brown 1857.
We have been lucky enough to find many photos and documents relating to the Dickens & Rootham families of Riseley and would be very happy to share the info with anybody who is interested.
Best regards Brian & Michelle Clift
