Rev. James Madison DICKEY- SMYRNA Church Reconstruction, WILKES County GA & Slave Information

Surnames: CODY, DICKEY, BRANTLEY
I'm seeking information on Rev. James Madison DICKEY, a METHODIST minister who traveled in 1859 to WILKES County, GA to oversee the reconstruction of the SMYRNA Church. He owned my 4th Grandmother Catherine "Kate" DICKEY. She would've been about 10 years old when they traveled from WARREN County GA.

I'm attempting to confirm Bob CODY as Kate's owner and determine if he would have loaned or sold Kate to Rev. James Madison DICKEY.

Kate's brother Pierce CODY completed a WPA Slave Narrative (below) and shared the CODY family were HARDSHELL BAPTIST and traveling ministers/missionaries often visited their Plantation. The SMRYNA Church held union services in the 1840s for Presbyterian and Methodists.

My Questions:
1.) Would Bob CODY have been connected to Rev. DICKEY through his travels to plantations?
2.) Would Kate have been loaned or sold to Rev. DICKEY?
3.) Is there ANY documentation available that would shed light on the arrangement and/or confirm the relationship between the 2 owners?

Also if there are any PERSONAL documents (bible records, journals, etc) available from Rev. DICKEY I'd appreciate being able to view them.

My Family Website is www.OurGeorgiaRoots.com and references to the WPA Slave Narrative of Pierce CODY and information on SMRYNA Church is below.

Thanks - Luckie DANIELS
