Hi Lynn,
I will try to send this for the 3rd time! I live in Michigan & we have been having power outages due to storms. Every time I work w/this, the electric goes!
The dates are right. But William Dickie was born in Canada (about 1850-51, d. 1931 in Shelby, MI) & had brothers that moved to N.C. I know he visited them. There were a contingent of Dickie's that settled in the Henderson, N.C. area (NOT Hendersonville, N.C.)
Wm. Dickie married Annie Hugh Rankin on June 29, 1882. They had 5 children: James Bradley Muir (b. 1883, d. 1952); Samuel Rankin (b. 1887, d. 195?), Annie May (b. 1889, d.1891); Annie May (b. May 30, 1892, d. 1980) and Donald Hugh (b. July 2, 1894, d. May 5, 1970). This was all written by my Dad (Donald) back in the 1940's or early 1950's. There is more, but I'm not sure how in depth you are going.
William Dickie was a farmer & they lived about 2 miles north of Shelby, Oceana County, Michigan. I have seen the farm & it must have been a hard life.
If you would like more, please let me know. My e-mail is: adholmes44@hotmail.com Looking forward to hearing from you.
