John Joseph DICKMAN
J. J. Dickman was born December 3, 1885, in Covington, Kentucky. John Joseph DICKMAN was the son of Mary E. Conley (Connely)[86] and Joseph DICKMAN.
J. J. served in the U.S. Navy for two enlistments. On November 29, 1902, he enlisted at Cincinnati, Ohio for a 4-year term. His place of residence was given as Covington, KY and his next of kin, was his mother, Mary E. Dickman of #73 Center St., Covington, KY.
During his tour of service, he served on several ships – U.S.S. Lancaster, Columbia, Brooklyn, U.S.S. Florida, Franklin, and U.S.S. Texas. He was honorably discharged on November 28, 1906.
On July 23, 1918, J. J. re-enlisted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He gave his home address as 331 Kirke St., Covington, KY, and his next of kin was listed as Myrtle DICKMAN, wife, 3083 W. 6th St., Cincinnati, Ohio. When he was honorably discharged on June 5, 1919, he received travel allowance to Pittsburg, PA from Hoboken, New Jersey. At one time, after discharge, he gave an address of 2045 Catherine St., Philadelphia, PA.
John J. Dickman married Myrtle Ashburner on June 26, 1911 in Covington, Kenton County, Kentucky. She filed for divorce & it was finalized in March, 1918.
