Ernest Henry Dickman (1852-1919) and Maria Anna Freese (1868-1933) were my Great-Great Grandparents. They were both born in Germany. Ernest came to America in 1868 and Maria came to America in 1883.

Ernest and Maria were married June 24th 1893 in Manhattan, New York, NY. I found in the 1900 United States Federal Census that Ernest and Maria had a son Willian Dickman. William was 14 in the 1900 Census. Born August of 1885. If William is their son he was born before they were married. Unless William was from a previous marriage of either Ernest or Maria. ny help would be welcomed.

Does anybody know of a Marriage of William Dickman to Elizabeth Trueman? Most of the generations of Dickman's I know came from Pewsey,Wiltshire,England. However, this Marriage did not take place in Pewsey. The Marriage probably took place sometime between about 1795 and 1815.It is thought William Dickman was baptised on the 12 April 1776,who was the son of Robert Dickman (1741-1829) and Mary Amor (1750?-1828?).It is thought this William and Elizabeth Dickman had known children as follows:-Ann (1815-1818),John (1818-1895), William (1823-1895?) and Sarah (1827-?), all baptised in Pewsey, Wiltshire.Any information re the Marriage of William Dickman to Elizabeth Trueman would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks, Ken Dickman, Melbourne, Australia.(email:-kenjoy13@hotkey.net.au)

Dickman surname, St. Louis, MO

I am looking for more information on my "new" family. I just met my father, Jack Dickman about three months ago and I have a LOT of family history to catch up on.

All I know right now is that my father is John Joseph (Jack) Dickman and he has two sisters, Eva Elizabeth (Betty) and Mary Margaret (Peggy). From what I understand, they were all born in St. Louis and moved to Homestead, Florida where their mother died and all three were raised by their maternal grandmother, Lillian Julia Witzig Sullivan.

It is difficult to get a whole lot of information because I live in St. Louis and Jack lives in Brighton, Colorado. You can only get so much detail in phone conversations while trying to write everything down. If anybody has any other information, it would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Thanks

I'm hoping someone has some further information on this family. John & Josephine (Wirtz) Dickman were my g-grandparents. I know John died in 1893; Josephine passed away in 1892. I originally thought there were 7 children in the family that were were taken in by relatives, or went to the St. Francis Home for Boys.

Now I've found further information that indicates there were 2 more sons: Thomas P. (b. 1891), and George (dob unknown). Is anyone related to these siblings or have further information? I'm also trying to find the only girl of the family...Catherine or Kate, born 27 Sept 1882 in Detroit. I have information about some (not all) baptism records from the St. Joseph Church, Detroit.

I know that Thomas P. Dickman died in the 1960's in St. Clair Shores. I believe his wife was Caroline or Carrie. Hoping that someone has either Thomas or George on their Family Tree.

Mari-Maria Dickman m. Richard Paul Hoffmann

My grandfather Sam Dickman and his brother Adam settled in Sheboygan, Wi. They had a cousin Mari-Maria who also settled in Sheboygan. She married a Richard Paul Hoffmann. Sam & Adam's father was Henry Dickman (Henrikas Dikmonas). As far as we know his siblings were George, Michael and Ursula. We do not know if Mari-Maria was a first cousin or second or third cousin to Sam and Adam. Mari-Maria's descendants seem to think her father's name was also Henry Dickman (which is possible if she was a second or third cousin to Sam and Adam). They have her siblings listed as George and Anna. I am wondering what further information you have on Mari-Maria, as we are trying to figure out how she was a cousin to grandpa Sam Dickman.

My g g grandfather was Peter Dickman born April 8, 1811 in Prussia somewhere. His second marriage was to Eva Heinrichs who was my gg grandmother. I don't have any information on Peter's ancestors and would like to trace back further. I know his first wife's name was Susanna and that their children stayed in Prussia area until after Peter died in 1872. Peter died Oct 19, 1872. Eva was much younger and remarried a Jacob Heibert to come to America. Is there anyone out there who can give me some clues?

Looking for any one who may be related to Helen Dickman, maiden name Griffin. She would have been in San Francisco around 1924. Her husbands initials are F. R. Dickman. Helen is my great aunt and was probably born in 1890, Seattle WA. I am trying to clear up some mysteries about her sister Marie E. Larson, (Aka) May Griffin Larson for Marie is my great grand mother and we don't know for sure where she died and is buried. It may be Portland Oregon but that is unproven dispite the research I have done.

My gg grandmother was Elizabeth Dickman, daughter of, I believe, a Fred Dickman. That's the name listed on her 1929 death certificate. She was born in 1842 in Indiana, and her family moved to Marion County, Iowa, when she was still an infant.

In the mid 1850s, she married John H. Cody and accompanied him to the wilds of eastern Kansas during the violent years preceding and during the Civil War. John was murdered by Quantrill's troops, and the young widow returned to Iowa.

Her son George's obituary said she farmed near the Iowa City area (Johnson County).

That's all I know. Can anyone help? Elizabeth's exact date of birth was January 28, 1842.

Thanks.

Cathie Cody Shiff

My great great grandmother Elizabeth Dickman Cody was born in Indiana in 1842 and her family moved to Marion County, Iowa when she was an infant. I believe her family lived in the Knoxville area for some years.

She married John Cody in the mid 1850s (yes, she was very young) and moved to Kansas. When John was murdered by the Quantrell gang, the young widow moved back to Iowa, this time near Iowa City.

Her death notice names her father Fred Dickman, born in Germany, but I am not sure whether that is correct. That's all I have for now.

Cathie Cody Shiff

Does the name Miriam Dickman sound familiar? I understand her family was from Austria. I think she migrated to England before coming to the US. She married a Charles Lazarus, I believe, he came from Poland.I was told he may have had an uncle who was a rabbi. He later changed his name to Lazar. She was born in 1885 died 1916 of childbirth. She had two brothers who came to the US via Canada. They were Jacob (Jack) and Dave Dickman. The spelling Dickman may or may not have been altered. They lived in Los Angeles, CA. I would appreciate any help. Thank, Lyn

Jacob Dickman and Susan Smith Dickman

I have an old photo of Jacob and Susan Dickman's family taken at their home north of Brunersburg, Ohio, in the early 1900s. There are some people in the photo we cannot identify. Do you know anyone why might be of help? I believe Jacob was the son of William Carl Dickman based on stones I've looked at at the Noble-Tiffin Cemetery near Brunersburg, Ohio. Can you help?
