I have a lot of information on the Dicks family in Newfoundland, Canada. Thomas Dicks is the first record I have. He was born about 1760 (not sure exactly when or where). He moved from Lamaline on the Burin peninsula in Newfoundland to Burgeo further west on the South Coast. The Anglican Church records start about the mid 1840's and a fair degree of information can be found in these. Thomas had son Henry who in turn had a son that was named Henry (ie. Thomas' grandson). Christopher was a son of Thomas and I have a record of others. There was also a George, if memory serve me correctly. Family lore has it that the Dicks family were from Dorset where many of the original families to settle in Newfoundland came from being "West Country fishermen". I'll dig out my records and provide you with some further information over the next several weeks. If you provide me with an e-mail address, I could send it directly to you.
Regards and Happy New Year!
Paul Dicks
