Dear Paula,
That letter is great! I know that John Dixon, Sr. was born c. 1792 in Glasgow, and married Agnes or Ann Ure. However, their son, John Dixon, Jr., was born Feb. 14, 1822 in Middlebie, Dumfries and married MARY Bell Dixon. Their son, Robert Valentine Dickson I, born Feb. 14 1849, in Annan, Dumfries, Scotland d. 1930 in Toledo, OH, we believe emigrated first to Canada and later the US. He married Nellie Stephenson in Lambton Co., Ontario.
I used to have information about siblings of John, Jr. but the information was lost from my hard drive. If I run across anything more I will be sure to get in touch. In the letter, who was "the factor?" Who were, "He and his wife and the two youngest?" Who are "James and the other five?"
Let me know what you make of this information. Does Mary Bell sound familiar?
Brent Dickson
