I am searching for Michael Düpolt/Diepolt born 1793/4 and his family.
I believe he had a father Martinus.
And a sister Marianna Dypolt born 1794/5.
And a brother or Uncle Adalbertus Dypolt born 1778/9.

Family folklore suggest that they were French, as Martinus was believed to be in Napoleons French Army.
Possibly from the Elsac region and possibly from Mulhouse.

I have seen numerous different spelling of the names including Diepolt, Düpolt, Dupolt, Dypolt, Dypold.
Probably Catholic.

Please contact me if you have any information at peter.dypoldt@ntlworld.com

Many thanks

Pete
Hey Fred, just stumbled upon this and while it was posted several years ago thought I'd respond. I am a descendant of Anton Diebolt, son of Joseph. Anton's son Lawrence was my great grandfather, my grandfather was Carl Diebolt and his son (my father) is Roger Diebolt, all born in Piqua. I was born in Pittsburg Kansas and live in Kansas City, Missouri. Carl married Pauline Scheidmeyer of Piqua (my grandmother), and they had 3 sons all of whom are still alive: Gary Diebolt lives in Seaside Oregon and owns and operates an old time Malt Shop. Richard Diebolt lives in Littleton CO and is retired into a life of full-time painting. And then my father Roger Diebolt resides in Austin Texas as a manager of a Michaels Crafts store. I don't know a ton about this side of the family, but I know some. My grandmother was into genealogy prior to her death, and she assembled quite a bit of info. Lawrence's other son is the one responsible for the "Diebolt Lumber Supply" that you stumble into on Google. But I don't know much about that side of the family, they're distant cousins.

Hi,
I have a Joseph Anthony Diebolt who was born in France also.I do not know if he is related to your relative that you mentioned in your posting. Joseph married Catherine Frauel, and they had a daughter named Anna Catherine Diebolt. Anna married my Great Grandfather William Thomas Feagans and helped him raise his sons,Frank and Perry from his first wife Sylvia.Does any of this sound familiar to you? If it does please let me know. Thanks.

Michel Diebolt / Hochfelden, Bas Rhin, Alsace, France

I am a descendant of Michel Diebolt of Hochfelden, Bas Rhin, Alsace, France. He was born ca 1695. His great grandson Joseph Francois Diebolt (b 1802 - Dettwiller, France) migrated to the United States and lived near Ohio, Bureau Co., IL prior to moving to Brown Co., KS. where he died. Joseph had at least seven children; Barbara, Anton, Joseph, George, John, Magdalena and Mary. Of these children, all but Barbara immigrated to the United States and eventually settled in Northeast Kansas. I am specifically descended from Anton who died in 1919 in Olpe, Lyon, Kansas. His second son Lawrence settled near Piqua, Woodson, Ks. Any additional information on this family would be most appreciated. In 1995, I published a book on the descendants of Michel. Hope to hear from you soon. Fred Lager
