Hi , the name Diederichs was derived from Theodoric(h) (Theodorico in Italian) It means leader of people . Theodoric comes from the Germanic tribe the Ostrogoths. He was the king of the Ostrogoths and ruled Italy 3rd century. His grave and palace is in Ravenna, Italy. The gothic people comes from an island in the Baltic sea, namely Gotland. It is today a province of Sweden. Theodorich was born in Pannon, now Hungary , in 454. on 5 March 493 Theodorich entered Ravenna in truimph. The Gothic tribes are desecedants of the Gadites.
