Yes, I came across the same problem, but though it was due to a transcription error. If you also read the same, I can not explain it for now. Most of this research was done in the 1980’s.
The marriage record in the Mass. Vital records reads as this; ( my extract )
Diette,Arthur 19 pullman Ill. ( Adolphus & DinaThomas ) LOWELL 20 Jan. 1905
Berard,Lumina 17 lowell ( Francois & Marie L. Pepin) R. C. 555/508
Other records record them as Dolphus & Silena, which are more French, but I believe they are the same couple.
I looked at the 1880 census again last night and found what I believe is the family recorded as GNYOT.
This is what I found on Ancestry.com;

This seems to match with the information I have for the Louis Guillet / Edesse Choiniere family. Joseph was b.1846 in Marieville, Aremedeo ( Hormisdas in French ) was born in 1858 in St.Urbain, Que. along with Louis in 1861. Joseph in 1877 is described as a son of Louis & Edesse and Louis in 1881 as a son of Louis and Andois.
