Hey Cuz. Hope all is well. I remember my mom telling us
about cousins in California named Barbara Jean and Carole Ann Di Falco. Recently I found a Carole Anne Di Falco who
married Jacquelyn Kennedy's nephew. Have you heard any of this.

I married into the DiFalco surname but am researching my husband's family on behalf of our children.

The story I have heard about the name DiFalco is that one of our distant ancestors was a doctor to a nobleman. By virtue of his status as a doctor, he was given the prefix "Di" rather than the "De" which is more common to peasants.

No one has any proof to back up this story; that's just what's been passed down in the family.

Hello. My husband's family DiFalco is from Cattolica or Agrigento, Sicily. The family settled in the Bronx, NYC. Other surnames on our DiFalco family tree, also believed to be from Cattolica, Sicily are Patti, Castelli, and Incarbone.

My tree is public so feel free to have a look.

I also have family named DiFalco from Lama Di Peligni, Other names that I have been able to decipher are Angelucci, Cianfarra, and Conicella. They also came over to Minersville, Luzerne, and Cokeburg in the coal country of PA and then moved to Philadelphia, where I still reside today. I am leaving for Italy in 8 days and staying Abruzzo for a week. Good luck with your research, I havent even updated my ancestry page with these new findings that I found in a Microfiche film I got from the LDS church this week.

That's fascinating. Do you know which province your DiFalco ancestors came from? My ancestors were from Chieti, at the foot of the Apennine mountains. There are peregrine falcons native to the area, but I haven't found any evidence that my family engaged in falconry.

There is an old family crest which has been passed down in my family which the story goes that the difalco clan while not direct royalty were amoung the nobility and owned and made their fortune by raising hawks for sport. When they left the country due to hardship they gave all thier servents the name of difalco and that's why it there are so many that came over at one time. Dont know if thats the true story but its the one passed down.

Di Falco Family

I know that the Di Falco Clan has many present- and past-day relations in Abruzzi, Italy, as well as in Rome. Hundreds of Di Falco people came to the USA from 1850-1920 and settled in Vineland, NJ. From there, they branched out to NYC, Philadelphia, Camden (NJ), Southern New Jersey, California and Pennsylvania. My father told me that the family owned many lemon and almond orchards near the Adriatic. In addition, many practiced the Old Ways, and continued to do so in the US. A friend of mine from Florence did some research on her last trip to Italia and discovered that the Di Falco Clan dated back to the 1500s as royalty. Anyone hear similar stories?

My grandfather was Joseph(Guiseppe)DiFalco born in Italy in Rocamulto(I'm not sure of spelling) in the 1890's. He had brothers and sisters but don't yet have access to any records. He married(arranged) my grandmother in Johnstown,PA. I know there are DiFalco's still listed in the phone book. They later moved to Trenton,NJ where there are more, but I am not sure of the relation. Good Luck, will update, Judy
