Hi. It's Jenifer Santiago. Both Eric and Andrea are my cousins. Although it's not my last name, I am quite interested in the heritage of the part of my family that has been in my life.

Hey all... Not sure who is still around on this site but after many years of tracking this info around I found where my great great grandfather was from. He was born in Citta Sant Angelo. Turns out my last name has a big family in the Abruzzo region in that town as well as Atri, Silvi, and the surrounding areas. I've also recently been in contact with some extended family and have shared some info to help. Pretty interesting stuff. There is a website that hosts tours of the Abruzzo region and I plan on visiting next year.

Hey, whaddya mean probably right? Just kidding. How do you know where the different spellings start and end. I always thought they were mixed together in those three towns (Atri, Silvi both high and beach, and Rosetto). It would be interesting to know more about what you know.

I've been to Atri and ran into some dead ends around 1850. The record for my great grandfather's birth lists his father's name as Francesco but we could never find his birth, marriage or death certificates. Any advice?

I am 100% certain that your family comes from the area of Atri which is a suburb of Teramo in the Abruzzo region of Italy. You should be able to find it on a map on the east coast about in the middle. There is a chance they came from a town nearby like Roseto or Pineta.

I've been there several times, it is a wonderful small town, very nice people, great food, etc...

If you have any questions, feel free to write.

Dan

Hi Eric:
Dan is probably correct although I would place the spelling of difebbo about 10km south in Silvi. My grandmother was a Difebbo who came to america in the early 1900's from Silvi Alta and I know that there are still Difebbos in Silvi Marine. check this out.... www.tuttosilvi.com/ilportaledisilvinelmondo.htm

john
