My maternal grandfather, David DiFrancesco, was born in Teramo. He left Italy as a young man sometime before WWI. He too spent time in Pennsylvania before moving to Canada. I know nothing of his parents although there were stories about them owning substantial properties in the Teramo region. I'd appreciate any information you might have.

DiFrancesco from Alanno, Pescara, Abruzzo, Italy

My g-grandmother was Rosaria DiFrancesco, born in 1890 in Alanno to Raffaele DiFrancesco and Rubina DiSantis. Rosaria had 5 brothers and sisters: Pasqualina 1894, Antonio 1896, Rita 1899, Nicola 1903, Pasqualino 1908. Rosaria and Rita immigrated to Ohio in 1915. Antonio and Nick immigrated to the Roxbury (Boston), MA area in 1910 and 1920. Pasqualina and Pasqualino remained in Italy. I do know that in 1958, Pasqualino adopted 3 DiGregorio children in Asimare, so he may have married and lived there. If any of these names sound familiar, please contact me. ezilydistracted@aol.com.

Hi Laura,
This is Brittany. I just emailed you back. :) I have tried to build the family tree on the DiFrancisco side by searching through censuses, and public family trees. I probably don't have the correct links so I am excited to see your tree. Are two of his siblings Marion & John? I started my search with a 1930 census with those names.

I would love to link it back to Sicily and find the Ellis Island immigration papers. I have searched through them, but I don't know if the names I have are correct...Was Martin's father's name Angelo?

Best regards,
Brittany

She had a brother named Francesco but I do not know anything about her parents or other relatives. Could she somehow be related to your Pasqualina or Luigi?

Hello, I have a DiFrancesco connection in the Germantown section of Philadelphia around 1896. My Gr-Gr-Grandfather Pietro Stellaccio had a sister named Marianna who was married to Matteo DiFrancesco. Matteo Came to America from Montecorvino Rovella (SA), Italy around 1896 to reside with his brother-in-law Pietro Stellaccio on Rittenhouse St. in Germantown according to his ship manifest. Somewhere along the line his name became Martin. Pietro and Marianna are buried in head to head plots with their respective families at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Cheltenham, Pa., I do have a photo of the headstones. If you'd like to compare notes please feel free to email me directly. Philamoss@aol.com

My name is Michael Baker, formerly Shannon Salvatore Smith, biological grandson of Salvatore Di Francesco. Miriam Smith (fka Miriam Di Francesco)is my biological mother. My sister, Eve Sintia Gradillas, formerly Eva Sintia Smith, was adopted along with me many years ago. Our biological father died, Phillip Smith, and I am interested in seeing if Miriam is still living in Ohio. I was very saddened to see that my biological grandfather was dead, along with my biological grandmother. I would like to perhaps make contact with Miriam at some point in the future and find out about her life and the life of our biological family.

Today I am an attorney in Phoenix, Arizona, and my sister actually works with me at my law office.
Just saw your post on Rootsweb from back in 2004. I'm trying to do some research for a friend and am hoping you might have a connection. I'm also in Rochester. I have a Rosa Pitix from Seradifalco, married to Giuseppe Lo Curto. And her mother was Providenza Milazzo.Rosa The daughter of Giuseppe & Rosa was Giuseppina who married Luigi Latona here in Rochester. Any chance you might to be in some way connected. If so I'd love to share with you. Nancy

looking for next of kin or other family for Pedro DiFrancesco.
He was born in Argentina. Supposedly had 2 sisters in the U.S. Angela and Laura, but he hadn't been in touch since the 70's and noone knows where they are, if they changed name, if they're still alive.

Pedro's parents were: Carlos DiFrancesco and Conception Timberi. he was born 4-1-1926. I assume the parents were from italy due to their names.

Does anybody know anything about Angela or Laura?

This family is my wife's line. Her Grandfather was Pasquale DiFrancesco (1884-1953)who was born in Torano Nuovo, which I believe is in Abruzzo Province, Italy. He had at least two brothers; Michael (1892-1960)and Louis (Luigi)(1894-1941), both of whom came to America. Their parents were Antonio DiFrancesco and Annunciata DiSerafino. I have arrival information if needed.
All of the brothers ended up in Western Pennsylvania upon their arrival in America.
I do not have anything more than this at this time.

My great grandfather Fedele DiFrancesco emigrated to Richwood,West Virginia in 1910 and settled in Cleveland, OH. He married Anna Rossi (orphan) in 1909. I believe that Fedele has brothers that emigrated to South America - probably Argentina. Fedele b. 1880 was son of Vincenzo DiFrancesco

HELLO GIORGIO,
I THINK YOU ARE THE ONE I TRIED EMAILING SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, BUT IT BOUNCED BACK
MY DI FRANCESCOS AREN FROM MONTAZZOLI, IN CHIETI. LAURA,ANTONIO,GENNARO, AND ANNA. I KNOW ANNA'S PARENTS WERE FELICE DI FRANCESCO AND (PIA) LUIGIA MONACO I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE "PIA" STANDS FOR. GENARRO STAYED IN MONTAZZOLI, AND THE REST CAME HERE. THERE WAS ANOTHER BROTHER OR SISTER WHO WENT TO SAO PAULO, BRAZIL. I ALSO THINK THERE WERE MORE BROTHERS AND SISTERS SINCE LAURA WAS 20 YEARS OLDER THAN ANNA (MY GREAT GRANDMOTHER)
I REMEMBER YOU HAD LEFT A MESSAGE FOR SOMEONE WITH A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DI FRANCESCO (WHERE THE NAME ORIGINATED). I SENT A LETTER TO MONTAZZOLI FOR RECORDS AT THE "COMUNE" BUT NOT SURE HOW THOROUGH THEY ARE. WHEN I WAS IN SCIACCA, SICILY SEVERAL WEEKS AGO THE WOMEN WORKING IN THE COMUNE WERE TOO BUSY SMOKING AND DRINKING COFFEE. I GOT NOTHING.
WHAT DO YOU KNOW OF YOUR DI FRANCESCO SIDE.

JASON BAHRT
Hello Mary
I think we are cousins. My name is Caroline Allen. My mother was Annie Mortellaro Bader.I talked to your dad the other day.Sam Granato. I was trying to set up a meet to talk to him. To see if he could recall any thing about our family. I am sure you have talked about it to him and have found out all that you can about the family. I ran across a new paper chipping about your grandmother when she passed away. Mary Mortellaro Granato. I would love to meet with you and to see what we could come up with together. I have not gotten much on the family as yet. I just started looking a few weeks ago. I know I have many cousins and other parts of the family on my Mother's side that I have not meet. My mother was the youngest of the nice children so that makes everyone older than me. Please call me so we can talk. I look forward to your call. I work out of my home so you can call any time.
Thank You Caroline Your mom took my phone number down the other day.

ALL OF MY GRAND AUNTS AND UNCLES SAY THEY NEVER HEARD OF HIM. AND I GOT NO REPLYS FROM HIS FAMILY IF I REACHED THEM WITH MY "MASS MAILING" TO THE 30 OR SO DI FRANCESCO'S IN NEW JERESY. LET ME KNOW IF HE IS RELATED, AND WHAT YOU KNOW OF HIM. IF THE OLDEST SISTER WAS 20 YEARS OLDER, I'M SURE THERE WERE MUCH MORE BROTHERS AND SISTERS. YOU ALSO MENTIONED IN THAT MESSAGE ABOUT THE SISTER WHO WENT TO BRAZIL. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU HEARD ABOUT "HER".

HI ROSEMARIE,
WAS YOUR GRANDFATHER'S NAME ANTONIO OR ROCCO? IF SO THEN WE ARE RELATED. I HAVE A FLORENCE IN MY CENSUS RECORDS AND HER FATHER WAS ANTONIO, MY GREAT GRANDMOTHER ANNA'S BROTHER WHO SHE CAME TO STAY WITH. THEY ARE ALL FROM MONTAZZOLI, ITALY (IN ABRUZZI), I HAVE THE PASSENGER LIST MANIFESTS AND CENSUS RECORDS FROM 1910 AND 1920. THEY ALSO HAD 2 SISTERS, ONE MARRIED A DI FRANCESCO IN SCOTCH PLAINS (WHO THE NEW GOVENOR OF NEW JERESEY IS DECENDED FROM ) AND THE OTHER ONE I'M STILL SEARCHING FOR WHO WENT TO SAO PAOLO BRAZIL, DO YOU KNOW HER NAME? I'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS BECAUSE A FRIEND OF MINE IN SAO PAULO IS TRYING TO HELP ME LOCATE OUR FAMILY THERE. ALL I KNOW AT THAT BOTH SISTER (SCOTCH PLAINS AND IN BRAZIL) MARRIED MEN WITH THE SAME LAST NAME (DI FRANCESCO). DO YOU KNOW YOUR GREAT GRANDPARENTS NAMES ON THE DI FRANCESCO SIDE? I'M TRYING TO MAKE A FAMILY TREE CHART, AND WOULD SHARE IT WILL ALL MY RELATIVES. I WROTE TO SEVERAL DE FRANCES IN NEW JERSEY BUT HAVN'T HEARD FROM ANY YET. THE SCOTCH PLAINS RELATIVES DON'T KNOW MUCH, AND MY GRANDAUNTS & UNLCES CAN'T REMEMBER THEIR AUNTS NAMES (THEY THINK THE ONE IN SCOTH PLAINS WAS "LORETTA" BUT I CAN'T FIND HER IN THE CENSU RECORDS.
HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU,
JASON BAHRT
PS, MY EMAIL IS policiaboy@hotmail.com
I AM A POLICE OFFICER HERE IN NEW YORK CITY.
TAKE CARE

HI ROSEMARIE, THANK YOU FOR REPLYING. WHEN YOU SEE YOUR AUNT ASK HER IF SHE REMEMBERS HER AUNT'S NAME (ANTONIO AND ANNA'S SISTER) WHO WENT TO SAO PAULO, BRAZIL AND MARRIED THE DI FRANCESCO THERE. I KNOW THAT ANNA AND ANTONIO WERE CLOSE BECAUSE WHEN SHE CAME HERE IN 1905 SHE WAS GOING TO BE LIVING WITH HIM ON 4TH AVE IN ELIZABETH (BEFORE HER MOVED TO 29 SPENCER ST). WAS THE ROCCO DI FRANCESCO ON PALMER ST RELATED? I CAN'T FIND ANYONE WHO KNEW HIM. DOES YOU AUNT REMEMBER THE SISTER'S NAME WHO MARRIED THE DI FRANCESCO IN SCOTCH PLAINS, NEW JERESY? MY GRANDAUNT SAYS LORETTA, BUT UNLESS SHE CAME AFTER 1920 I CAN'T FIND ANYTHING. YOU MENTIONED ABOUT YOUR BROTHER GOING TO ITALY. IF YOU COULD ASK HIM ABOUT THE TOWN THEY WERE FROM FOR ME THAT WOULD BE GREAT. IF HE HAS A COMPUTER YOU CAN HAVE HIM CONTACT ME. MY EMAIL IS policaboy@hotmail.com
I'M HOPING TO PLAN 2 TRIPS THIS YEAR, ONE TO ITALY AND THE OTHER TO BRAZIL. BEFORE I GO, THOUGHT, I WAS HOPING TO FIND MORE INFO ON THE SISTER FROM BRAZIL AND THE TOWN. WHEN DID YOUR GRANDFATHER ANTONIO PASS AWAY? ANNA PASSED AWAY ON SEPT 11 IN 1946.
HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU.
JASON
PS, IVE BEEN TO ENGLAND TWICE AND WALES ONCE.
DiFrancescos in New Haven, CT

I'm just getting started trying to find DiFrancescos from the New Haven, CT area.

So, far, what little I have to go on is that my great-grandfather was Natale, my grandfather was Lindo, and I believe his sibs were Florence and Joe (who had sons Emilio, John, and Nate).

I'm looking for Natale's wife's maiden name (which my father has forgotten). I think I found Natale's immigration record at ellisisland.org, but since he was single I don't have his wife.

Also, for some reason neither Natale nor Lindo show up in the SS death records, even though my grandfather died in Stamford CT in the mid-seventies.

Any assistance would be wonderful.

Carla:

My maiden name was DiFrancesco but my dad was from Bugnara in the Province of L'Aqulia in Abruzzi. But my mom, Concetta Ricotta, was born in Serradifalco. Being such a small town you peeked my interest. Are there any Ricotta's, Locurto's or Milazzo's in your family . . . awaiting your reply.

Anne DiFrancesco Fadel
