Hi Mary -
While I was searching for my Grandfather and family in the Ballyduff area I found several Diggin families that I collected, but was never able to tie them into my Diggin family. I found some information on a Diggin family in Kerry, Ardagh, Townland of Claghane or Cloghane. The Registration District for this area is Ballyduff. The family consisted of:
Michael - b 1865 - wife - Mary b. 1863 Son Willie b 1892 John b 1897 Thomas b 1899 Denis b 1901 Michael b 1903 Margaret b 1904 Patrick b 1905 Edward b 1909.
Census records list 13 children born -- 8 alive in 1911.
I don't know if this is part of your family, but if it is I probably have a little more info on them that I could send you.
Arjay

My mother's father was Maurice Diggin of Kerry, Killury, Townland of Feeans. We had Diggins family in the surrounding townlands of Ballynaskreena, Ardagh, Drominacarra, Feeans, etc.
I have a list of the Diggin births, that were registered in the town of Ballyduff in Killury-1864 - 79, with both parents names. I noticed the birth of Thomas Diggin on May 15, 1864. The parents are listed as Thomas and Mary (Dalton) Diggin.

I also have an early Census on John and Ellen Barrett Diggin. John is residing at Number 6 Ballynaskreena. This is a short distance from Ballyduff, Killury. I believe he is the son of Thomas and Mary (Dalton) Diggin. Children still at home with John and Ellen are listed as Michael, Maurice, James, and Maria. They state a Total of 9 children with 7 living. I believe this family immigrated to the West coast of the U.S.from Kerry.

I would like to hear from anyone from the Thomas and Mary (Dalton) Diggin family line, or other Diggin, Barrett, etc. lines from the area.

I know this is years after your first posting, I hope you get this. I saw another search site by a billy. It was a little confusing because it had the marriage wrong.

Violet Bloom Brouse was married to Martin Diggins. Violet remarried after Martin died.
Violet and Martin had 7 children
Elmo
Bertha - My mother
Helen
Edna
Betty
Jack
Kirby

I hope this clarifies things. My mother, Bertha Mae Diggins married Robert Rohn During WWII she was sent here to Allentown, pa to help her aunt Edna Hinman, Violet's sister.
My mother was dating my father and WWII broke out they got married before he was sent to the war. My mother died in 1998 my father is still alive. He will be 90 this year.

I'm trying to find out more information of a Cora Diggins. She was born about 1876 in Iowa. Her parents were Benjamin Diggins and Elizabeth Hamrick. According to an obituary I've found, her name is mentioned as Mrs. Cora Miller. I have no idea who her husband was or if any children were born. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My grandfather was Thomas Steven Diggins, he was born Dec. 26, 1898. His father's name may have been William,(my mother is not clear on that), William was married to Mary McCarthy. Thomas had a sister named Margaret who married Edmund Flaherty, they moved to Columbus,Ohio. Thomas came to the States in 1924, and came to Columbus Ohio. He stayed with his Uncle Eugene McCarthy, till he went to Chicago to work on the railroad. He met my grandmother Nora Cronin in Columbus, Ohio, she was staying with her sister Annie, who had married Patrick Moore from Limerick, then they came to the States and settled in Columbus.

My mom thinks his brothers' names were Martin, Ned, Michael, and a sister named Margaret. We know so much about the Cronin Family, but hardly any of the Diggin/s relatives.

Joanna, Thankyou so much. My Mom is Mary Catherine Diggins. She is Thomas Steven Diggins' daughter, Madge's niece. Thomas married Nora Cronin (BallyDuff)after met her in Chicago. Mom would like to know if there are any of Thomas and Madge's family she could reach to get more information on the family. Also, did Thomas have an "s" at the end of Diggins in Ireland, or is it something that was added when he came to the states? Mom said that that she would check with the Moore Family in Columbus to get addresses and phone # for Madge's children.

I'm looking for any information on my Grandparents, or their family. Maurice Diggins (Diggin) was born in Co.Kerry about 1867. He was the son of John Diggin-s and Bridgit Haley. He immigrated to Omaha, Nebraska, and married Nano O'Connor. She was also an immigrant from County Kerry, and was born about 1866. Later a sister, Maggie, and a brother John O'Connor joined her. There were three or four Diggins families in the area, and I have yet to sort them all out. There were also cousins from Ireland named John, and Mary Barrett. Some of the Diggins married into the Kinsella, Ratigan, and Hanlon families in Omaha.
