Judge J.S. Diggs married Mary E. Slaughter Nov. 27, 1884. Mary was born in 1857. They lived in Lynchburg. Mary's mother was Catherine M. Slaughter and her second daughter was Katherine L. Slaughter born in 1858 according to the 1900 census. The other information is from our family files. Judge John Singleton Diggs was the third of five children of the Rev. Thomas Diggs by his first wife, Elizabeth Ford. She and Rev. Diggs were married Jan. 39, 1847 in Cumberland County, Virginia. He married Mary Anne Cronin of N.Y. ca 1858 and had 10 more children.
