Surnames: Pierce, Dill
My gr (x3) grandfather Joseph D. Pierce (1833-1910) was from Upper Greenville Co, South Carolina and married Elizabeth Dill ca. 1861.

Joseph served in Co. H, 6th SC Cavalry (Aiken's Partisan Rangers) (1st Partisan Rangers). His regiment surrendered in TN and was brought up to Louisville, KY.

After the war, Joseph brought his wife and sons, Jesse and Alexander to Utica IN (just across the Ohio River from Louisville). Their daughter Lulie was born in TN on the trip back up here to Southern Indiana. They had another son Fletcher in 1870. (found him 3 mos. old in the 1870 census, but he was not in the 1880 census.). In 1873, Eliza died giving birth to their fourth son Charles - my great great grandfather.

I have been unable to find out much of anything about Elizabeth Dill. I can't even find where she and little Fletcher were buried.

Is there any chance you could help me figure out who her family was? Does she fit into your research anywhere?

Oh, she was 8 to 10 years younger than Joseph.

Thanks.
Tina
