When I saw the combination of Dill/Loftis I became excited. My name is George D. Dill. I have a biography that tells me that my family came from Delaware. I have been researching the Dill families there and had good results. I have also been to the Delaware Archives twice now and have had good results. Many times I have seen where a Dill have married a Loftis. So I know that they are connected in multiple generations. I believe that my ggg grand father, Solomon Dill (born circa 1756 in Kent Co., DE) was married to either a Loftis or Sculley but have not yet found any documentation for this belief. I am hoping to find a Loftis to confirm that they have such a record. If it is confirmed, I want to go farther back in the Loftis ancestry as well.
I have also pursued research in County Donegal, Ulster for the Dill families and have had great success. I have found hand written documents of some of the David Dill families of Ulster telling of what they remember of their families as well as the Hearth Tax Roll of 1660 that lists a John Dill and the book "The Dill Worthies". In one of the hand written stories it mentions that a John Dill, the brother of David Dill (born circa 1643), went to America and was not heard from since that time. In an attempt to authenticate a connection, I had a DNA sample tested and compared it to the Caleb Dill family of New York who also trace their family to the Dills of Ulster but the results shows that the Caleb Dill family have a Celt DNA and John Dill has a Nors DNA. Now I am trying to determine which way to continue my research. It may help to find the Loftis connection and work with that for a while.
I would appreciate anything you would want to share about the Dill and Loftis families. It may be easier to communicate directly. My e-mail address is

With love in Christ, George
