John Lingle Dillard - Mercer, Kentucky

I am a descendent of John Lingle Dillard who was born in Mercer, Kentucy in 1780 and died in Orange County, Indiana in 1830. Supposedly his father's name was Etienne (Ettienne) but I have been unable to find solid evidence of the existance or ancestors of Etienne/Ettienne Dillard. Does anyone have any information on this family?
