Hey Karen,
We are obviously related in some way as my DILLARD's also lived in Gwinnett Co., Ga for a time and the names in each of the families are similar. I am sure you probably already have these but a precursory search on Ancestry for Alfred and John DILLARD turned up the following records:
1870, 1900, 1910 & 1930 Fed Census WWI Registration. If you would like me to send you any of these please let me know. I will continue working and see if I can come up with any leads. You may visit my website at www.genfan.com I have a signifacant amount of information on DILLARD's maybe something might jump out at you that I have not made a connection for and it may lead to some answers for you. Happy hunting and keep me informed as I would like to know how we are related as well.

I am looking for information on John H Dillard, b about 1866. He is shown in 1870 in the Walton County Cut Off District census with a mother, M M Dillard, widow. He is my ggrandfather. He married Martha Ellen "Ellie" Hutchins in 1889 in Gwinnett County and raised a large family on land given to them by Jackson Hutchins, Ellie's father. They are buried at Midway United Methodist Church, in Carl, GA. His son, Alfred Wilson Dillard is my grandfather. My grandmother always told me our Dillard's were related to the Senator Richard Russell and Ina Dillard Russell family. Do you have any information on who might be the father of John Dillard? Thanks for your interest in my Dillard family.

He was ex. of will of William Duvall in 1818 in Clark County. Probably a cousin and perhaps a son in law as William was m. to a Lucy Duvall. Eliza Duvall daughter of William m. James Kelly and James was guardian to at least one of John R Duvalla daughters. Good luck. Janet

I am not aware of any Dillard family who lived in South Carolina. Most of my family lived in Virginia and North Carolina. I'm interested in obtaining information from you as many of my family that I have names on our family tree but information of their place of birth or where they lived. My family goes back to Martinsville, VA and all started with my great grandmother Sarah Dillard born in Martinsville in 1855. She had seven children and most moved to North Carolina. If any of your family come from Martinsville, VA or North Carolina I would be interested.

I don't know of any Dillard's from my family that lived in South Carolina. My family is from the Sarah Dillard who lived and died in Martinsville, VA. Her children, Virginia, Roxie, Musco, Charles, Harry, David, and Willie (my grandfather), all born in Martinsville but lived in Winston-Salem and other parts of NC. Roxie married John Connor and they had 9 children. Willie had 12 children, and the rest had 4 or less. If you have any information about any Dillard's in Matinsville, VA please let me know.

My great grandfather was John Henry Dillard m. Martha Ellen Hutchins in Gwinnett County, GA 28 May 1889. They raised 10 children on property given to them by Jackson Hutchins, Ellie's father. I am trying to connect John to his parents. There is a widow in the cut off district of Walton County (next to Gwinnett) with a M Dillard (widow) with two children, J H and MEJ. What can you share about Gwinnett County Dillard's? I cannot make a connection or find M Dillard's husband. Thank you for your help and interest in my Dillard search.

Hello. Yes Obie was their father. He had a twin name Pope Dillard. Herbert is my grandfather. He married Grace Cooped and had my mother Kathryn Cooper Dillard and Martha Jim Dillard. Herbert, Clifford and others members of the family lived in High Point maybe 7 years or so. Herbert abandoned his wife and children, went to Florida and started another family there.

Hi, I don't have anything on Peter, so don't know if he was a son?-brother? or what. This is what I have on the father, Daniel Dillard was born in Ga.abt 1824, his wife Elizabeth was born 1827 in Ala. their children were Mary 1844 Ala, James 1847 Ala, Sarah 1850 Ala, Matthew 1854 Ala, and David 1857 Ala. This is from census 1860 Calhoun Co. Ms. apparently all the kids were born in Ala, and they moved to Ms between 1858--1860 and stayed untill sometime in 1870's,Daniel must of died in Ms bef. 1870, and Elizabeth and kids moved back to Pickens Co. Ala. by 1880, widow Elizabeth, age 53 is living with son David in 1880, and also his grandmother "Nety" age 83 born Tn. I don't know when Elizabeth died, or Nety. and have no maiden nanes for them. As you know my connection to Matthew is through his 1st wife Sarah Crossland, whos mother Sarah Hancock, was a daug of Joel Hancock / Elizabeth Sturdivant, I'm a direct line from the Sturdivant's. Keep in touch, and write me anytime--Evelyn

My line of Sturdivant's comes from Elizabeth Sturdivant's brother, John Sturdivant / Sarah Harrison, John was my gr-gr-gr-gr grandfather, through his son Samuel Sturdivant>>to daug Sarah Sturdivant (Chism). They all lived in Tuscaloosa and Pickens Co., Samuel went to Webster Co. Ms., next to Calhoun Co-and raised 14 children there, some remained in Ms., and some went to Texas. several of John and Elizabeth's brothers and sisters remained in Tuscaloosa/Pickens Co. area, and are buried there. I have quite a bit on the Strudivant side, and some of the lines they married into. but also have a few that I haven't been able to find much on, so hope we can fill in some blanks for each other--
