Hello,
I am Beth Quinn, my mother is the daughter of Annie Dillehay which was your grandfather's sister. I have quite a bit of information found on the Dillehay line, but have reached a brick wall when I went to find out about Conrad Winold who was married to Sallie Gilliland Dillehay, which is grandma Lena's mother. If you would like to share any info back and forth, send me an email at vanasmommy@yahoo.com.

First daughter, (Elizabeth or Ellen) born in Alabama in 1845. The next two kids were born in Warren Co., NC.
I also research the Carrico family, but have been reseaching the Dillehay/Delehay family to document my tree and aid a Dillehay researcher. I find Thomas L Delikak in the 1820 census. This must be Thomas Dillihay as it is the only name that is even close. His name may be Thomas "Lowe" Dillihay, though I don't know what the documentation is for that. He is not, according to sources I have found, the son of Winifred Lowe and John Dillihay, though. Winifred was, according to marriage records, Winifred Wheatly. She and John Dillehay were married at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, St. Mary's Co., Maryland bef 1766. They had Stephen, Joseph,(both bapt. St. Andrews Episcopal), Mary Ann and Winifred. [St. Mary's Co., MD USGenweb/Catholic Families of Southern Maryland, Ancestry.com].

Thomas Dillehay and John Baptist Dillehay were sons of Rodulphus and Elizabeth (MNU) Dillehay. There was also a third Dillehay listed in these resources, Thomas Dillehay who married Appolonia (MNU).

I see family trees that go back farther, but without documentation it is difficult to tell how accurate they are.

I'm wondering what is the documentation for the name Mary Slater? All I have been able to find is other family trees, but no hard evidence like birth or marriage record. I don't find any Dillehay/Dellehay/Dillahay/Dellahay/ Delehay or anything like it in Washington Co., Kentucky in the 1810 census. I do find Thomas L Dillehay in Washington Co., Maryland in 1810. I find Thomas Delikak in Washington Co., KY 1820 whom I presume to be Thomas Dillehay. In the 1870 Census Matilda is reported to have been born in Maryland.

I work on the Carrico/Carico family, so am just curious.

Paula, the Benjamin Dillehay b.1770-1780 in the 1830 Census may have been born 14 Sep 1778 and died 14 Feb 1863.

The data is from transcribed tombstone data in "Noble County Ohio Cemetery Records", Enoch Twp., Fulda Cemetery, page 189 [recall that prior to the 1851 formation of Noble County, Enoch Twp. was located in the western side of Monroe Co. Some of the Dillehays lived in Monroe Co.].

Transcribed Inscription:
Dillehay, Benjamin, Feb 14, 1863; age 84y 5m 0d
[calculated birthdate 14 Sep 1778.]

I have three other Benjamin Dillahays in my database, but this is the only one born 1770-1780.

Like you, I've been unsuccessful in finding this Benjamin in any census after 1830.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And you are correct, Ann Dillehay, daughter of Benjamin and Rachel (Slater) Dillehay did marry Henry Lowe.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Paula, when you said:
" I believe this Benjamin Dilleha is the father of Thomas, Stephen Dillehay who show up in the 1840 census of Guernsey County (and Benjamin in Enoch, Monroe County, Ohio)." [And later, you mentioned Lucinda as another sibling].

...It would be helpful if we had records or logic to support these possible parent-child relationships.

I look forward to clearing up these Dillehay families!

-Bill Martin Denver, CO
Try hooking up with Winston Dillehay of Indianapolis (He's a 2nd cousin, my spelling only goes back 2 generations. He has an extensive database concerning Dillahay/Dillehay/De La Haye families, dating back to the early 1800s. He was researching the history back to the first Dillahays to arrive in America ca. 1690.

Benjamin Dillaha of the 1930 Guernsey County, Ohio census

Found a Benjamin Dilleha (b. 1770-1780) on pp. 367, Oxford, Guernsey County, Ohio with 7 children...

On this same 1830 census page is Thomas Dilleha and Henry Lowe who I believe married Ann Dillehay in 1823 in Montgomery County, Maryland. The elder Benjamin
aparently died before 1840 because he was not found on this or later Ohio censuses.

I believe this Benjamin Dilleha is the father of Thomas, Stephen Dillehay who show up in the 1840 census of Guernsey County (and Benjamin in Enoch, Monroe County, Ohio).

On this same 1840 Guernsey census page is Benedict Low who married Lucinda Dillehay in 1831 in Guernsey County, Ohio. I believe Lucinda Dillehay (b. 1812 D.C.) to be Ann, Thomas, Benjamin, and Stephens Dillehay's sibling.

Carolyn,
I believe the Collins' and Dillehay's were both from Boyle County in Kentucky. That is Danville. They left Kentucky sometime before 1875, because one of their sons was born in Grayson County, Texas, 1875.

I am getting ready to leave town for the rest of this week. When I get back I will check with my aunt and see if she has more information about that.

Collins is also a very common name and I am having some difficulties too.

Treca

My grandfather was Thomas Jefferson Dillehay born in Danville, KY, 1864. His father was also Thomas Jefferson and mother was Louisa Hall born about 1837. My father was Thomas Jefferson Dillehay born in Decatur, TX 1907. I am hoping my ggrandfather was the Thomas Jefferson Dillehay born in 1815 and his father was Thomas Lowe but I am having trouble proving it. It may be that Louisa Hall was the second wife because of the ages of the children. Can you help with any information? Could Lee Vera and Thomas Jefferson Jr. be half brother and sister? Thank you. Joanne Dillehay Hinton
