Looking for parents of Hannah Dilworth born 25 Feb 1810 in Delaware, Pennsylvania. She married Samual Cope abt 1830
Her son was named Joseph Dilworth Cope. I may be taking a real leap here but could her father been Joseph Dilworth, and his mother named Hannah? I believe his father was named Amos Dilworth. Does anyone have information to help me solve this
mystery. Thanks

Cathy

I've been posting to the Beaver County PA page. You may be interested in some of the photos that I have acquired. Two are attached here. I know you will recognize atleast one.

Most are the descendents of Ambrose and Mattie Nicely Dilworth, and James Power Dilworth who is the brother of Hugh, I believe. The oldest photo I have is of Mary or Elizabeth Mary Dilworth and first husband John Watson Rankin.

Will

I got a little heavy with my finger - Olive's name has only one L.

I found a family tree on Ancestry; it does not give parents for David Nelson nor does it give any sources for him. It says his wife was Margaret Irwin. It says that David Irwin's wife was Emma Blanche Thompson.

Sources include the 3 censuses I've given you already, the WW2 draft registration I gave you, but also WW1 draft registration. I looked this up and it gives David Irwin's birth date as Jan. 17, 1886, and wife Emma B. He registerd from Chautauqua, NY. David I. Dilworth died in Lorain, Ohio on 9 Jan. 1961.

I can't find David Nelson Dilworth or David Irwin Dilworth on the 1900 census to prove that generational link. Sorry. I guess the spelling of the name was messed up in the index, or something.

In that case, you will find David Irwin Dilworth and wife Emma in Chautauqua Co., NY living in Dunkirk, Ward 3, in 1920. He was foreman in a steel mill. Children mentioned on the census are David Jr., age 11, Frank, 8, John, 6, and Robert 4.

In 1930 they appear on the Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., PA census. David and Emma and children: David, 21, Frank, 18, Jack, 16,Robert, 14, Ollive 9. David Irwin is a superintendent in a steel mill on this census.

My Dilworth ancestors were in Beaver Co., PA and before that in Westmoreland Co. Since I was not familiar with the town of Braeburn, I ran it through "town search" and came up with Dauphin Co. and Westmoreland Co.

The name David is not common in my own line.

I notice on the 1910 census a David Irwin Dilworth in New Kensington, Westmoreland Co. He was born about 1886 and was married to Emma. The same man's draft registration form for WW2 gives his birth date as Jan. 17, 1889 in Philadelphia, PA. His wife Emma is mentioned. The registration is made in Lorain, Lorain Co., Ohio. It this your guy?

African American Dilworth Family of Mass, Conn and New York City

I am looking for information on the family of Ernest Mark Dilworth born 26 Nov 1895 in Fairhaven, Massachusetts. He married Ruth Bowman (from Charleston South Carolina) and had 2 dauthers Helen and Ruth (who died as a child) and lived with them in Springfield Mass according to his WW1 Draft Card and 1920 census. By 1930 census, he and wife Ruth had split up and were both living in Manhattan, NY. He died 12 Feb 1942 and is buried in Long Island National Cemetary (veteran's cemetary). I am married to his grandson.

Based on census and other data located through ancestry.com, I know he had a brother named Edmund Devers Dilworth born 5 Jan 1899 who I found information on up to WW1 draft card (then no trace). Their mother was Hannah/Anna Dilworth born in Connecticut around 1876, and I have had trouble locating her after 1900 census. Edmund's WW1 draft card lists her as living in Windsor, Conn. Their father was apparently from New York, but I'm not sure if Hannah was a single, unwed mother--i.e. that her maiden name is Dilworth or not. I have no information on Ernest and Edmund's father and his family.

Would love to hear from anyone who can fill in some of the gaps about this family.

Hi, My name is Rosanna Ward. My grandmother Mabel Rosanna was named after her aunt Rachel Rosanna Tracy who was named after her aunt Rosanna Kelly who married Joshua Tracy. I have a lot of info on the Tracy family as I have been researching it for many years. But I am having a hard time with the Dilworth side. I have Rachel's parents as William Dilworth and Kesiah Greenfield. Much of this info I got from my grandma who lived on the home farm and knew the family history very well. Her mom lived with them until she died and her grandma also so there was rich family history there. A biographical sketch I have says that Joshua and Rachel have a direct link to the mayflower colony although I haven't been able to prove this I am still looking - could be on the dilworth side.

Hello - I'm sorry to say I don't have any information for you on this Dilworth family -- but was searching on the Dilworth message bd & your post caught my eye.

I've got a brick wall on my Dilworth line. My grgrandmother Charlotte (Lottie) Dilworth was born in Hubbardston, Ionia Co, MI in 1867. Her brother, William Herschel Dilworth was born in Coldwater, Branch Co, MI in 1869. (The other 3 brothers were born in WV and Ohio.) The parents are William & Mary Ann Dilworth. William was born in CT, orphaned at age 6, raised by a Powers family in Brimfield, MA., but he had 3 siblings - John, Sarah & Anne - that we know nothing about/can't find.

I always wonder why William & Mary Ann went to MI, even for a short time, before they moved back to OH & remained the rest of their years. Did William have relatives already located there in Michigan???

If you see even the slightest chance of a connection, please let me know. Probably a long shot, but just had to try.

Thank you,
Berta
Hi, We are connected thru Hannah Cakebread. Don't have time right now to give much data... but look at descendants of Issac Cakebread in East London, Middlesex (Mile end town, stepney, bethnal green, etc.) ... see Samuel Cakebread and wife Sarah London... you'll find a fair amount of info on file thru Glenn Cakebread's files.
My branch, Thomas Cakebread, immigrated to New York City in 1850's.
if you have a specific question, I'll try to help,
linda brown raiola lindaraiola@yahoo.com

Hello,
Your post is from 2005 but I just happened upon it. Fleda Dilworth Husted was my great grandmother. Her daughter,Jean(Jenny), was my father's mother. My father was Robert Edward Husted Bailey, Fleda's grandson. My father was born Oct. 13, 1925 to Jean who was unwed at the time. My father grew up believing that Fleda was his mother and Jean, his sister. He was told the truth when he was around 10 or 11 years old when Jean married Charles Bailey. I remember Aunt Rendena (we called her Aunt Ren)and I vaguely remember my Dad talking about Aunt Dorothea. I don't remember James. I do have some of my fathers old pictures...it may take me awhile to dig them up. Please write back to Ldeski@msn.com
Best regards,
Liz (Bailey) Deskiewicz

According to some notes I took from an Old Swinford transcript at Birmingham library, there was an Edward AMPHLETT who married an Anne DILLARD at Old Swinford on 11th April 1726. DILLARD, DILWARD and DILWORTH seem to have been used pretty interchangably on the Old Swinford register.

Regards
Peter

Nancy Leonora Dilworth b. 06 Feb 1859, Madison CO AL

I'm looking for information on the forebears of Nancy Leonora "Nora" Dilworth, my husband's gggrandmother. According to Clark info, she was born the above date, m. Jeremiah Clemons Clark (1851-1900)in 1875. They lived, died, and are buried in Madison CO AL. The 1880 census says that Nancy L.'s parents were both born in AL.

Also, Jeremiah's sister Elizabeth (Bettie) m. James Greg Dilworth 10/30/1880. Children: Willie, Robert, Bun, Jimmy (female), and Jerrie.

Another sister, Autley Josephine, married a Dilworth in a second marriage.

yet another sister, Naomi Louise, married John D. Dilworth on 8/8/1876.

All Clark/Dilworths stayed in the state of AL, if not in Madison CO.

Is there a connection between all these Dilworths?

Would appreciate any info,
Sue
