This is so exciting! I think we are all related somewhere along the lines. How amazing is this! Years of replys from all of you that I just read and hope everyone will keep on connecting. Hopefully all of you still review this. Back in the late 1800's my great grandfather Antonio was born in 1863 in Sicily,I believe either Palermo or Messina still investigating that,(must be in the blood- they are all in the police force the relatives)Still working on finding his relatives. He married Fillippa born 1876, they resided in South Boston 1910 census records. They came from Italy and landed in South Boston at that time and stayed, not Ellis Island. My grandfather John Anthony DiNatale was born in January 1901 ? He had a sister Rose, Mary, and Frances, brothers Samuel,Phillip, and Frank they resided in South Boston, then Dorchester, and my grandparents retired in Jamaica Plain and Malden. My Grandmother was Freda(Othmer)DiNatale, yes he married an American,1st generation(of Irish/German decent) They had my dad Anthony J., John that died when he was little. My Aunt Mary,Aunt Phillyis,Uncle Joseph (butch). They are still around .
And when I was little I was exploring the cellar and found pics of my great granddad and grandpa John he was in the navy and was a amateur boxer. I have the pictures still of Antonio and Fillippa, they are very stern looking but young and strong looking as well. We have her eyes and the DiNatale look right down to the grandchilren. Anymore pics out there?
I did notice a reply from Adeline Kerrigan that her great grandfather was Anthony, and buried in St Michaels. My grandparents John and Freda and their son John are buried there as well, I did notice the last time I visited the resting place of our relatives that a Rocco was there. And that my Uncle John died on my birthday , of course I was born many yrs later. So, I believe with all the children and past relatives we are all related. WE need a family REUNION! My dad is turning 80 this yr. and I believe some of his cousins must still be around. As a matter of fact, I met one of them in Marshfield, Vinny I think, when I rented a cottage and by God I thought it was my dad they all look alike the same eyes, nose -its amazing. Anyway, if anyone is reading this or ponders upon this please contact me ddcapecod@comcast.net. Ciao! God Bless!

My last name was DiNatale, from Winsted, Ct. I can't find anything on the DiNatale's except at Ellis Is. it's listed as Natale. When my grandfather married my grandmother (Mazzarisi, Mazzarese) it was still Natale, but on the 30's census it's DiNatale. My grandfather was from Santa Caterina Villarmosa, Sicily.
Jeri

There are many branches of DiNatale's from Sicily...mostly Palermo also Messina and Venice. Please, if possible can you provide some first names so that we can help you? My family has Thomas' (Gaetano in Italian) John's (Giovanni)and Joseph's (Guiseppi)With sister's Mary, Paulina, Rosalie...and many cousins.
Let us know...we might be related. Most DiNatale's started with the spelling of DiNatale...but when they came to Ellis Island the receivers did not speak Italian and phonically signed the register for the immigrants as DeNatale. So extend your search to both spellings.

Hi my name is Vito De Natale and I am 41 years old.
There is everything a big mistake on the last name De Natale and Di Natale, in effects in the time dissocciatis are him but in origin it was only a log De Natale.
I am sure to 100 for 100 that your ancestors were also really Sicilian because the wife of De Natale Salvatore called Calogera (and not Carlogera) Sicilian typical name, for instance me that I live in Naples, this name doesn't exist.
One ancestor of mine had made a search in the national file in Florence and he had succeeded in going up again up to 1650, sustaining that the roots of our last name originated from the Piemont Turin.
I hope that these few news has served you.
For any other information you can write me, Bye

My DeNatales settled in the lower East Side of New York City. When my grandfather, Guiseppe could afford to move, he bought a house on the Great South Bay of Long Island and had it moved to some land he'd bought. He dug the basement himself. Then, he had my grandmother, Giorgia Girasa DeNatale, and thier two young sons (Salvatore and Pietro) join him. My father, Raymond, was born in that house on March 2, 1920. My brother owns that house now and my parents live next door! My grandmother died when my dad was 18 mos old. We all lived for a time in that house: Salvatore and his young family; then Pietro and his family and then My parents and their two kids.
As far as Boston DeNatales...There seem to be a lot of them! Mike DENatale lived next to my inlaws on Mystic Valley Parkway in Medford, Mass. No relation.
Good luck in your search!!!!!! Cathie

Hi, my great grandparents were from Sicily. Palermo. My great grandfather came here to South Boston and had three barber shops. My father is Anthony John and he is a former Supt. with the Boston Police Department. I have one brother and four sisters. One of my sister knows most of the history and first names of our relatives. I know that several are buried at St. Michael's Cemetary in Jamaica Plain.

My Salvatore and his wife Calogera had a child Salvatore. He was not listed on the 1900 census so he must have born after that or left in Sicily. Do you know his parentsnames? Did your DeNatales settle in Boston or Fitchburg Mass?

I'm sorry it took so long to reply, but I've been working all week. Since I posted that message, I've discovered I was looking at the wrong family line. Apparently, the Natale family are relatives of our side of the Rivaldo family--most likely cousins. My family lived in the Chicago area and my mother remembers the Natales, but I haven't been able to place them on the immediate family tree. My grandmother's father was George Rivaldo, who married Pauline Guzzardo (from the Azzarello line.) I would imagine it was the wife of the Natalie side that fit into our line.

Dear Analisa:
I finally saw your posting. Are you from Sicily? If so, from where? Nearby Modica????? That is where my grandparents are from. Grandpa, Guiseppe DiNatale, was born in 1879 and died in1981. He married Giorgina (Giogia) Girasa. They had two children born there, Salvatore and Pietro and a third son, Raymond, born in Bay Shore, LOng Island. He had relatives that went to Buffalo, NY as well as Texas. The Blancos or Biancos went to Texas. Any similarities? Any and all information will be appreciated.

His great-grandparents came from Italy, most likely Sicily, and the family name was apparently changed at Ellis Island. We're looking for the birth information of his grandfather and great-grandfather to find out what the original family name was. The grandfather's name is Thomas DiNatale, born 8.12.1929 in New York.
If anyone has birth info on him or any kind of info on his parents, that would be amazing!
