My 3GGrandmother was:

· ID: I024354
· Name: Margaret Ann Dine
· Sex: F
· Birth: 30 MAY 1820
· Death: 6 OCT 1871 in Ayr Twp, Fulton Co, PA
· Burial: Corner Cemetery, Fulton Co, PA

Father: David Dine
Mother: Susan

Marriage 1 David Crouse b: 27 FEB 1818 in MD
Married: BEF 1842
I was wondering if William, Andrew, and his two brothers may have had a sister. My Crouse family went east to Illinois, so I am afraid that I am unable to confirm all of this information directly. It would be nice to have the ancestors of Margaret Ann Dine Crouse. The only other info that I have is that David Dine died in 1845 in Ohio.

My dad has done research and tried to find more info on Robert. His death certificate has his birthplace in England but it is scratched out along with the date. On a trip to England my dad did try to find it over there but he wasn't able to find a birth record. My dad has also tried to find Robert's entry into this country and has been unable to find it. He thinks Robert may have entered Canada somewhere and came down that way, but he has no records to document it. We are descendants of Wesley Dine and my dad has quite a bit of information from that side.
Justin Dine

Sweatman line in South Carolina

I am relatively new to the genealogical scene, but I have become quite fascinated with searching and finding out bits of information regarding my past. I am, however, stuck on a few key people. Here are the major points with specific reference to (what I believe is) my line:

James J. Sweatman (1754-1823)
(m) Mary ???
1a. Augustus Sweatman (1800-1986)
1b. Edward Sweatman (b. 1805)
(m) Ann ???
2a. Mary Sweatman (b. 1832)
2b. James Sweatman (b. 1836)
2c. Samuel Sweatman (b. 1840)
2d. Daniel Sweatman (b. 1842)
2e. Rebecca Sweatman (b. 1847)
2f. Amanda Sweatman (b. 1849)
2g. Dennis Sweatman (b. 1850)
(m) Jane Sweat (1845-1918)
3a. Barney Edward Sweatman (1875-1969)
3b. Emma Sweatman (b. 1877)
3c. Rufus Wesley Sweatman (1877-1960)
3d. Annette Sweatman (1878-1956)
3e. John Sweatman (b. 1879)
3f. Eli Washington Sweatman (1884-1966)
(m) Jennie Wells (1889-1962)
4a. Carl Alden Sweatman (1911-1970)
4b. Eli Washington Sweatman, Jr (1915-1996)
(m) Marguerite Case (1918-2004)
5a. Jennie Sweatman
5b. Eli Washington Sweatman, III (1949-2008)
1c. Stephen Amos Sweatman (1805-1864)

My father was Eli Washington Sweatman, III. My sticking points are related to several things: 1) where does the line go after (or in this case, before) James; 2) what can be known about the line of Jane Sweat; 3) what can be known about the line of Jennie Wells; 4) what can be known about the Case line; and 5) more generally: is this information correct?

I have a William Dine born Adams Co., PA in 1825.
His father was David Dine, mother was Susan/Susannah.
These people are descended from the Van Duyne family who
emigrated from the Netherlands to New Netherland (now New
York)in 1649. Gerritt Cornellison was the immigrant
father.

William had three brothers. Two remained in Stark County,
Ohio and the other two went south a county above Cincinatti
and then to a factory in southern Indiana. One married the daughter of the factory owner and both boys died there.
They were originally blacksmiths. One was named Andrew and
I'll have to find their folder for more data.

Gary Radcliffe
West Covina, CA

We are doing the exact same search! (that is, if you are still doing this search 3 or 4 years later) Have you ever found anything on these two people? I am a descendent of one of their children, Colston Love Dine. I'm sorry that I don't have any help for you, except for these unverified notations on a handwritten family history chart: Margaret Kennedy was born on June 7, 1821. William was supposedly a shoemaker who moved from PA to OH in 1850. First lived in Seneca Co, OH, then Mercer Co., OH. Again, none of that has been verified. But if I ever find out more about these two, I will try to let you know as well.

We would like to receive private or email correspondence only on the missing uncle and two missing first cousins issue please and only with their permission, if possible. If they desire not to have their whereabouts or names known we will certainly respect that stance. It's just that my father doesn't even know their first names-and he would be satisfied just to know that much. Anything else would be a bonus such as a phone conversation. It's worth a chance. Thank-you to anyone who can help.

Dine Trevillian Zaydan James Family Tree

I'd like to make a couple of corrections/ additions to the previous message. Stuart was b 1906 but died at aged 50 in 1956. Emma Tame appears also to have married three times first to William James, then Henry Morris(b Isle of Wight) in 1883 and then to Robert John Morgan(b Sydney) in 1887 so if you follow the trail of marriages you get to Emma Morgan-South Yarra d. aged 60 in 1897. This puts her in line beautifully to be the same London Emma Tame( c-4th Sept 1836 ) along with parents who were married in 1833(18th Feb) in London who appear on the IGI (check this out). They also 'appear' to have a male child who was born on the 11th Dec 1833-but he doesn't appear on the IGI as far as I'm aware. I have also researched the Kents and Charlotte Maidment Kent appears to have been the Daughter of the Reverend Samuel Chambers Kent of St Silas C of E church in Melbourne and Charlotte Elizabeth Chapman. As far as I can tell they were also perhaps both remarried but you will need to research and work out if this is the case. (NSW bdm very useful for this) - however at some point original documents need to be viewed. I have obtained a certified copy of William and Emma's Marriage registration from their records-( I'm assuming that there isn't another pair with the same names- but in this game you never know) Their ages line up very well though as they were 24 and 20 when they married at Trinity C of E church in Launceston Tasmania 5th May 1857. Also I'm trying to work out whether the Joseph Tame who was buried in Launceston Tasmania aged 66 in 1870 was actually Emma's father or not and whether this couple had any other family members present in either Tasmania,Victoria or other parts of Australia. Thank -you.

Dine Trevillian Zaydan James Family Tree

Dear Margaret Dine or others - You've got my attention here because you've got my family tree that I've been researching for the last few months up on the internet. I live in Victoria and my search has a definite purpose in that I'm trying to locate where Earnest Leslie James ended up as well as my Dad's two first cousins, one male, one female who visited his home in Brighton Melb in about 1956 and he hasn't seen or heard from them since. He believes that they moved to Qld or Brisbane with their parents. I have only started to unlock the secrets of my family in the last few months because my grandfather seems to have separated himself from them by either accident or design - long stints in the RN and RANavy didn't help. He has reconnected with some of the other cousins. You probably don't want to here this but you've unfortunately got some missing bits of the James family tree. Will and Emma were married in TAS on 5th May 1857 in Launceston. Their first child was Emma Eliza 1858.Alberton - Port Albert and Earnest and Harold ( a non - surviver) had three other siblings Frederick Ross(OBE)1903-75(one child), Lillian Maidment(no chn)1910-76,and Stuart Bernam1906-50.William James died at Alberton/Port Albert Vic at age 39 in 1872. Born circa 1833 - Maybe Oakfield(Ryde) Isle of Wight and Emma Tame the daughter of Joseph Tame and Martha Brown( died South Melb aged 79 1885) died in South Yarra aged 60 in 1897 born circa 1836 and was born in London. I have some of the documentation to back some of these unproven theories up-most of it seems to fit together quite well though. I've got lots more information on this family than I can put on here-could go on and on.

Dyiene ? Has Anyone Seen This Spelling ? Indiana ?

I have always been told that this line of my family was spelled DINE . I came across a letter from my great grandfather to my great grandmother, before they were married. It is addressed to her as: Miss Blanche Catherine Dyiene . In the letter, he references to her [marriage talk] name again as Dyiene. Both were good with spelling.
Does anyone have anything on DYIENE ? She was from the Brown County , Spearsville areas of Indiana.
Cathy

My greatgrandmother was Mary Ann Harmer Dine.I have traced direct line to William Dine [1724-1803], born Chiddingly or Waldron, E. Sussex. His parents were John Mary, no more details. The Dines probably originated in Sussex - were numerous in 16th to 19th century, then almost vanished. Perhaps some emigrated? Any info. appreciated

Dine Family, England

Tom,
Thanks for your reply. All my Dine family so far traced came from the Chiddingly/Waldron/Laughton area of East Sussex, but I've no info. yet on descendants, if any, of the following, all born at Chiddingly to William Dine & Ann Turle, who m. on 12.4.1748:- Henry [bapt. 24.11.1751; m. Anne Funnell 6.5.1775; death date unknown]. William [bapt. 23.5.1755; poss. m. Ann?; d. unknown]. John [bapt. 3.5.1760; no further details]. Jesse [bapt. 4.12.1768; d. at Waldron, 26.6.1803]. The local parish registers record no further details for any of these, so they may have moved anywhere! My ggg g'father, Jasper, had one son John, who m. Harriett Alderton. Their son William [bapt. at Petworth, W. Sussex, 22.8.1847; m. Sarah Ahier] had a son, William John [b. 1878; m. Sarah Williams]. They had at least one son, Joseph. I would like to trace this branch. John & Harriett moved from Waldron to Petworth House, a large stately home where John became Butler, & where my g. g'mother, Mary Ann Harmer Dine, was brought up. It seems unlikely there is any connection, but I'm hoping! Janette Hill

Noting your many answers on Van Dine. My GG grandmother was a Van Dine, b @ 1822 & m. Daniel Knaus and were at Clarkson, Monroe, NY in 1840. Other nearby Knaus/Kanouse m. Van Dine/Van Dyne -- Jos. Kanouse m. Elizabeth Van Dyne & brother Jacob m. Margaret (Jane), Ontario Co, NY 1840 & Knaus history. Appreciate your comments. Is there a Van Dine historical group? A recorded history? Checking Netherland's surname listing this board, I found no listing for Van Dine, VanDyne, Van Duyne, etc. I noted NY Van Dine/VanDyne from 1790 on starting out in NYC area then moving into W. NY. Have not connected my VanDine to her family as yet.

We have no records of Bertha except the fact she went to the US with her mother and stayed. We have been told Ellen also called nellie re married a man named Edward Sweetman or Sweatman. We assume this was in NY as her father John Reilly lived in Brooklyn and we believe she stayed with him. Any info or leads gratefully appreciated

He married Ida Walker.
I also have a photo of Gertrude [Gerttie] May Dine. She married a Richart. She was born in 1900 in Indiana.
I also have a photo of Simon Peter Dine [my gr-great grandfather]. He is Joseph Dine's brother.
If anyone is connected, I have other info and I would be happy to exchange information.
Cathy
crkp@svs.net
