Hi Bill, not sure if you still look at this board but worth a shot.

I also have a GGGrandfather named Alexander Dingwell, who lived in Manlius Township, Onondaga County, New York. He was married at that time to a Ja??Ette (possibly Jannette). Born about 1820 in Scotland, fathers name as listed on Alexanders DC was John. He moved to Michigan sometime before the 1860 census. In the 1860 Census, he's remarried to Amanda and only 2 children are at home, but a possible neice is with them, Julia Lyon. None of the Children listed from the 1850 New York Census are with him in the 1860 Census. We have yet to determine what happened to his first wife, or where the children went when he moved. My GGrandfather was the last child he had, Edward. Alexander died in Michigan and is buried in Evergreen Cemetary with Amanda.. he died 1896..
His Children that we know of are: John born 1842 NY, George born 1844 NY, Alexander Jr born 1846 NY, Martha born 1848 NY, Ella born 1858 MI, Franklin born 1860 MI, Frederick born 1864 MI, and Edward born 1875 MI.
John and George joined up for the civil war (union) John died durning the civil war, George made 2nd Lieut and mustered out in 1865. George is buried in Detroit. We haven't really dug into the other kids for information yet.
If this sounds like your Alexander's family please contact me.. My email has changed tho.. it's now mhall@mn.rr.com

I know nothing of his parents but I do know my grandmother Lillian was French Canadian. But as I just happened across this site I thought it was interesting. I personally am not traceing family history, but I do know that my family meaning my Dads side is still mostly around Lansing. Meaning I have a number of cousins there still. So if there is a differant branch it is probably us. Good Luck in your search. Ed

Her maiden name was Dolly Negley, she was born and raised in NE. She later married her brother in law Nelson Thrasher a few years after the death of her sister Venus Negley Thrasher. They divorced and she may have or not married again, I don't know. She was last known to be living in either Scottsbluff or Brokenbow NE.
