Thank you for your reply. I dont't know if we are related. I do not know a thing about Mary other than what I posted. I only know her spouse. I don't know if there were any siblings, although I would almost think there were. Any living aunts or uncles that I have asked are either too old to remember that far back or were too young at the time to remember. I don't think there was much family contact with Mary. I don't know why. Maybe because she married someone in the military and moved from the area. They just did'nt seem like a close family. My mother (Mary's daughter)never really talked much about them. I do believe she was from Virginia. There was a letter dated sometime in 1978 I found of my mothers from an Aunt Annie Uncle Tommie and Bubba. from Virginia Beach. There was an Eleanor metioned in the letter. I'm not sure if these people were Mary's relatives or Roscoe Huntingtons. All I have a very little bits and pieces.

looking for info on Mary Elizabeth Dinkins from Virginia

I don't even know where to begin......My Grandmother was Mary Elizabeth Dinkins, born possibly in Arlington Virginia around 1903. Listed on my Mother's birth certificate as Mary Elizabeth Jenkins, born in Arlington 1906. Listed on some siblings birth cert. as Dinkins, some as Jenkins( they atribute this to Roscoe/ spouse being in the military and not very good military records). She married my grandfather Roscoe Whitehead Huntington in Washington DC Aug 1922. I have a copy of the marriage license from DC, and she is listed as Mary E. Dinkins, 19 years old from Fairfax Virginia. There are no parents listed on the marriage license. We have tried to get a copy of her birth record from Viginia twice now with no luck(something about no records kept between certain years). The only other thing I know for fact is she died while Roscoe was stationed at Fort Niagara New York in May 1944. Buried at Fort Niagara then move to Woodland National Cemetary Elmira NY 1949. New York state takes 9 to 10 months for a death record unless locality is known, which I don't, and I hate to wait that long and end up without any information other than what little I already have.
Sorry for such a long post, but maybe somewhere "Our" mary is a link someone else is looking for. Thank you.
Dinkins, GA to TX

I am searching for the descendants of William J. and Lola (Snellings) Dinkins. William was born ca 1851 in Georgia and is the son of William J and Susanna Dinkins. He may have been called Bill. I have found their last name misspelled in several different ways: Dekins, Denkins, Pinkins, Dinkines, etc.

Bill and Lola were married by 1880 in Schley Co. Georgia; they had 4 children, 3 living in 1900: Henry Claude Dinkins, b. 1880, Bertha Dinkins, b. 1884, and a yet unknown child. Bill, Lola, and Bertha were living in Bowie Co. Texas by 1900.

Henry Claude married Margarite Christine Waters in Kaufman Co. Texas and according to a recently discovered newspaper, Bertha married a gentleman named Eugene Moore early in Feb. 1907 in Texarkana, Texas. From this point on, these folks seem to have vanished - with the exception of Margarite Christine, d. 1964 in Texas.

I am very curious about these folks and would appreciate ANY information anyone could share with me. Thanking you in advance…….
John J. Dinkins who lived in Sumner Co., TN

I am looking for information on John J. Dinkins, my 5th great grandfather. I think he was born somewhere between 1770 & 1780 in Maryland. I know later in life he lived in Sumner County, TN. He married a woman named Sally who was born in 1786 also in Maryland. I think they had about 14 children. Here are the 11 names of their children that I have: John Wesley, William Carrell, Matthew Turner, Martha J., Thomas, Edward G., T.L., Lucy, James, Anna Elizabeth, Elizabeth. John Wesley was my 4th great grandfather, so I have some information about his decendents. I would like to find out information about John J. Dinkins parents & where they were from. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Do you know if they were really born in Maryland? I found a paper at the Allen County Historical Society that showed them being born in Maryland, but I haven't been able to prove it. Do you know who John J. Dinkins parents were? How far back have you traced the Dinkins family tree? I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out. Any information you have on them would really be helpful. Thanks. Beth
