I have a copy of a diary partially written by David T. Dinwiddie.["Pioneer History by Richard C. Schmal; Lowell Area Pioneers on the Oregon Trail, 1853". (from the Dec. 31, 2002 Lowell Tribune, page 8).
The Dinwiddie family joined the "Belshaw Party" traveling from Hebron area, Indiana on 18,March 1853.
He and wife, Elsie (Hildreth)Dinwiddie [my GGGrandparents], along with my GGrandfather [Joseph Milan Dinwiddie]did cross the plains from Indiana to Oregon in 1853.
They settled in Linn County, Oregon in 1854. Their son, Joseph Milan moved several times before settling in Jordon Valley, Oregon (Eastern Oregon, Malhuer County). He married Laura King, a resident a Walla Walla, Washington, and had 6 children:
Zora (Hutchison); Elsie Leonore (Brown/Bartlett);Lola Inez Dinwiddie; Dorris Cecil Dinwiddie; Rufus Milan Dinwiddie; and Orley Dewey Dinwiddie.
Elsie Leonore Dinwiddie Brown/Bartlett married 1.Charles Albert Brown of Ontario/Vale area, Oregon.[son of Albert Brown and Adeline (Tucker)Brown]. They had 3 children:
Grace, Donald and Bonnie.
Grace Brown/Harris/Bates married 1.Harvey Milton Harris [and were my biological parents]. They also had two other children; James [died at age 8 yrs.]; and Sue Ellen [died 2003 in Seattle, Wa]. [All three children were adopted to different families...I was adopted by my 2nd cousin, Grace (Marquis) Harwood/Leathers]; daughter of Nellie (Brown) [m. 1.Rex Marquis; 2.Charles Blanchet]. Other children Claude Marquis.
I also have more information on their some of the King ancestors; [Jesse King moved from Kentucky to Wayne Cnty. Indiana with son, John King. Some of the King family also ended up in Oregon (Jordon Valley, Oregon).
