For: Scott Fox
In the 1900 Census for Jefferson, NY, Rose's husband is still alive. His name was Thomas. Living with the couple, was her Father whose name was listed as "Clodwick Perichien".
Being familar with how the French names were often misspelled at the time, I researched for Clovis Parisien. I found the marriage record:

Ontario Marriages, 1869-1927 for Clovis Parisien
Name: Thomas Dionne
Event: MARRIAGE
Event Date: 09 Aug 1886
Event Place: Ottawa, Ontario
Age: 31
Estimated Birth Year: 1855
Father: Germain Dionne
Mother: Angele Dunn
Spouse: Rose Parisien
Spouse's Age: 21
Spouse's Estimated Birth Year: 1865
Spouse's Father: Clovis Parisien
Spouse's Mother: Julie Malbesny
Registration Number: 002246
Film Number: 1869960
Digital Folder Number: 4529147
Image Number: 01402

The correct names for the couples parents' were:
Germain Dionne and Angele Dionne. Angele was a Dionee by birth and Clovis Parisien and Julie Malboeuf.

Chris

My aunt has done a lot of research on the Dionne family and has info back to these ancestors.
Antoine was born about 1641 in "Coutran-La Ferté Gaucher" in the Champagne region of France.
Catherine was born there about 1644.
They married either in 1659 or 1660 on Feb. 24 in the same place.
There is still a location in France called La Ferté Gaucher. In this town/village, there is a street named Coutran. This place is east of Paris.
I am descended through their fifth child, Jean Baptiste and his wife, Marie Anne Charlotte Migneault.
If you or other descendants are wishing to correspond, please do so through my email: elaine_farina@hotmail.com. Please be so kind as to put Dionne in the subject line as I screen my emails and delete otherwise unknown addresses.

My Dionne Line are Indian as well.

My grandmother and her father and mother were all born on Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation in North Dakota (Belcourt I think is the main city there). the census' i have for my grandmother(as a baby) lists both her father (Peter A Dionne) and her mother (Delia Zaste) as half Chippewa, half French Canadian, but the only one with a Indian Registration Number was Delia. the census' just stated Peter wasnt enrolled.

Delia's father is Elzear Zaste of either Manitoba or North Dakota. Not sure if he is Indian. her mother Adele is Indian, but not sure if she is mixed blood or full blooded. i have seen 2 last names for Adele. one is FALCON, the other is BLACKBIRD. not sure which one is correct.

If anyone is familiar with my line please contact me.

jehn89@hotmail.com

dunno how much of the dionnes are indian, or at what point the indian ancestry came in, but my family was always raised that the chippewas (at least our tribe?) has intermingled with the french for nearly as long as they have been here.

I would love to connect with the descendants of Antoine Dionne and Catherine Yvory. According to some sources they were married on 24 Feb 1660, in Bourgogne, France, however, I can't verify this.

•Pierre BENOIT, b. 20 Jun 1671
•Marie Joseph DIONNE, b. 7 Mar 1672

•Antoine DIONNE, b. 1641
•Catherine YVORY, b. 1644

Children of Pierre and Marie Joseph:

Anne, b. 27 Jul 1665
Jean-Baptiste, b. 8 Mar 1670
*Marie Joseph, b. 7 Mar 1672 (I have her Drouin baptismal marriage and interment records)

This baptismal record of Marie Joseph Dionne proves that her parents were Antoine Dionne and Catherine Yvory:

Today seventh day of month in the March of the year six hundred and two seventy Baptize Marie Dione (Dionne) daughter of Anthoine Dione (Antoine Dionne) and his wife Catherine Ivory was born of day of six (this?) month and year. His godfather and godmother Maurice Crespean and Marie le Reau wife of John Guy.

I hope that we can help each other discovery the history of our Dionne ancestors.

Alex,

Yes, I certainly did mean to write that she was probably the Scholastique whose record I found was born in 1811! From my earlier post:

"After extensive research on my ggg-grandmother Scholastique and her adoptive father Henri BOUCHER, I've come to the conclusion that he is most likely the son of Francois BOUCHER and Josephte ROULEAU, (the one) who married Madeleine BERUBE. I don't know why only Henri always showed up on Scholastique's records as her adoptive father, but I gather that it wasn't too unusual for that time....From church records I've researched, it's possible that Scholastique was born in St. Arsene, RDL, PQ in (1811, the birth year and birthplace recorded for her in the 1851 Quebec Census), but baptised where Henri and Madeleine lived in Ste. Anne, Kamouraska, PQ." I found a record of baptism for a Marie Scholastique "illegitimé" in Ste.Anne that could be hers.

If you want, you can write to me directly at annestef1@gmail.com, and I'll look up the details for you.

Anne

Hi Anne,
Wow I was surprised to get a response back so quickly. Yea this seems to be the family mystery. I keep seeing the ancestory.com comercials with the lady that says she is the family detective and its got me thinking about Scholastique. I've decided to give it another shot.

I decsended from Arthemise Dionne Madore who I belive was Germain's youngest sister, Scholastique third child.

What info do you have on Henri Boucher. I'm trying to dust off my old info I had gathered on him. Any pervious dates, locations, I think I had found soemthing on him living of west but I can't remeber if it was hersay or if it was documented. If that is true possibly he could have adopted her out there. Anything you can come up with might help.

Thanks,
Alex
PS Two heads are better then one, maybe we can get this solved or find some others that are linked to her.

Re: Scholastique BOUCHER/Saturnin DIONNE

Hi, Alex,

This is almost getting to be our biannual correspondence! At least it only took me eight days this time to find your latest message.

That's interesting the response your Dad got to his remark that your ancestor Arthemise looked like an Indian. You're right, it's pretty typical, and to me, it confirms the theory that the background is there through Scholastique Boucher Dionne. There has been such a split opinion in my branch of the family, and I have never found other documentation than family tradition and those few family members who had the "look."

Unfortunately, we'll probably never be able to document it. Whenever I get another idea for research, I try, but at this point, I'm fresh out of ideas. Having come to a conclusion about which Henri's family most likely adopted Scholastique, which I posted in an earlier message, I can only hope that someday, a cousin or other researcher will post a message with better information or documentation.

My ancestors through ggg-grandmother Scholastique are her son Germain and his daughter Philomene, my great-grandmother. Which of Germain's children is your ancestor? I gather we're at least third cousins, second if Philomene Dionne is also your g-grandmother.

Thanks,
Cousin Anne
Greetings Cousin, I too haven't checked on here in a while. I agree with the NAI features and coloring. I have a connection to her from her daughter Arthemise Dionne who was my Great Great grandmother. My father once told me that he saw a picture of Arthemise and commented who the squaw was not knowing who she was and apparently the reaction was that it was quickly denied that she had any NAI blood in her. Apparently she was very adament about not being classified as a NAI. Which at the time period was common for a denial of NAI connection esspecially children of the adopted NAI. I have three of her children my GGgrandma Arthemise, Germain and Severine.

a letter found in old book - from Annette Dionne?

Hi, found a letter in an old book bought in an auction from New York. The letter appears to be a first draft and is dated Feb 6,1963 to someone named Nick from someone named
Annette Dionne. The letter is typed and says the following:

Dear Nick
Since the last time you wrote, I have heard many strange things about you. Are you really thinking of quitting school? Someone told me you were quitting because of money. Now Nick money is a very good thingto have around but don't quit school to get it. You can get more money faster by getting a good education.
You may think you'll make a lot more money working but have you ever thought of advancement or someday making more money than you are now. You might make plenty of money now but then as you grow older your pay will stay the same. If you try to get a better job the first question they will ask you is did you graduate from high school. You will have to answer no.
Yours Truly,
ANNETTE
DIONNE

If any one has any info on the letter it would be appreciated.

Re: Scholastique BOUCHER/Saturnin DIONNE

To: alexledger1

Hello, cousin! I'm finally seeing your message after two years. Obviously, I haven't checked this board in a long time.

About Scholastique's possible NAI heritage, I haven't been able to come up with a working theory, much less prove anything. Based on the oral tradition of one line of cousins who decades ago met Scholastique's granddaughter Philomene DIONNE (who married my g-grandfather Joseph Theodule "Adule" DESJARDINS-GARDNER), she looked to them to strongly have NAI features and coloring. Many of her descendants in my line do have some of the physical traits. Scholastique certainly could have been the daughter of Indians, or the product of a mixed marriage.

After extensive research on my ggg-grandmother Scholastique and her adoptive father Henri BOUCHER, I've come to the conclusion that he is most likely the son of Francois BOUCHER and Josephte ROULEAU, who married Madeleine BERUBE. I don't know why only Henri always showed up on Scholastique's records as her adoptive father, but I gather that it wasn't too unusual for that time. I've written twice to the Quebec Archives for the adoption record, but received no response. From church records I've researched, it's possible that Scholastique was born in St. Arsene, RDL, PQ in 1911, but baptised where Henri and Madeleine lived in Ste.Anne, Kamouraska, PQ.

If you'd like correspond about these ancestors, write me at annestef1@gmail.com.

Regards, Anne

And we have a Paul Chevarie (that's my grandfather, Joseph Edward Chevarie's nephew) married a Pearl Dionne (Uncle Authur's sister). So I'm suppose to be related to them several ways.
